If you don't want to get caught cheating on show day. Fill starts at home and it takes time. Good feed mixed with your choice or cotton seed hulls beet pulp winning fill depth charge or any combination can help. You need to get their gut to stretch to accomodate the feed and the fill. Its one of the things that you cant show up to the show throw wonder feed in front of them and get that look you are going for.

Pump with something carbonated lol

Or beer!  (clapping)

I try my very hardest not to make negative comments on SP, but wasn't their a post on here a year or so ago about a cow that was pumped with a carbonated beverage and died from suffocation.?  I would be reluctant to suggest that to anyone.  Lets try, as people who raise and love cattle and the industry to not give PETA, or any other similar organization fuel for their fire.

Best Answer. I like Depth Charge but use it on show day. I do like to feed dried beet pulp with the feed to the steers to help stretch out their gut making it easier come show time. You get caught pumping at our show, you are disqualified. A little trick that has worked for me is get them to eat Depth Charge or any other products like winning fill, then I like to put salt in their mouth which has helped getting them to drink which helps those products work the best as they swell.

I know at Agribition in Saskatchewan in 2010, a Charolais died shortly after leaving the show ring from being pumped full of ginger ale or beer, I can't remember what it was.

Wow, self inflicted bloat.  Amazing.

Obviously... The whole pumping thing is a joke... Don't do it unless you have experience, and I wouldn't do it just for a county fair

the first time you go to a show and the kid stalled next to you is pumping a calf and goes to far you would never consider doing it or want to see it again. The kid thought he was going to win ended up not even making it to the ring and almost killed the calf. Calf went down in the chute and 20 people barely got the chute apart before the calf choked to death on the cross bar( part of the reason the cross bar on the head catch is lower now). When he got up couldn't walk and peed blood. 5 gallons of water was enough to almost kill the steer.
