First flush- JT Daisy 99K

Nothing more exciting as a vet student than completing my first embryo flush! And it was very successful too! JT Daisy 99K (pictured) had twins in March at 15 years old, and her breeders asked me if we could try and flush her and purchased a flush from her current owner. Well the old girl certainly impressed us, she ovulated 17 eggs! Produced 9 freezable embryos, 4 unfertilized, and 4 dead ones.

Embryos are sired by Saskvalley Ramrod 155R. Definitely looking forward to implanting these next spring and seeing the calves at Poplar Park Farm here in Manitoba, Canada.

Very cool-I also have a 14 year old raising a big ugly black mutt calf-but shes really showing her age-We are going to try her 1 more time. Like the Moombie powerplay back in her pedigree-back when you could sneak some part-un spoken- maine into those Canadian cattle. Wish I could get some semen on a son.

I probably have at least 200 straws of Moombi Powerplay semen.... if anyone is interested. 

Congrats Justin on your first flush and you certainly picked a good producing cow to start with. I saw her last year and she was pretty impressive. I am presently flushing a cow that will soon be 17 (New Beginnings Elsie's Jade) and another that will be 16 in January ( Prairie Lane Sparkle 1K). We did not get any freezable embryos in our most recent flush of Jade as she has a growth on one of her ovaries. It may be her flush days are over but I am trying her one more time. Both these cows look like 7-8 year olds yet.

I will try and get some pics of some daughters this weekend when I take her back to her owners farm. Here is a picture of a son, Hatfield Snow Duke 50A. He is a 2 year old sired by Hatfield Snowman 11W (Northern Legend 3N out of an Eionmor Mr Gus 80C cow). He is working at Up The Creek Cattle Co. here in Manitoba.

I love a good horned Shorthorn like this cow. They were not called Shorthorns for no reason, I hope she does you very well, good luck with the flush progeny! Good choice of sire as well.
