I like the fact that he is nearly horizontal from the scrotum to his hocks!  Not 'cut-up'.  Rump area too.

Got two well fleshed lemons in his bag as well!

Keep posting knabe.

mind made up here after that picture.  Would you care to post those stats next to him on the left?  I'd be much appreciated.

Btw:  I once was told there was a book of all the original imported Maine bull with info and pictures.  What I would give for a copy of that.

here's kind of a spectacular bull.  there is no data to the left of the pics, only pedigrees.  some are incorrect, or at least different than on the cmaa (not many).

index.  anyone have a picture of recognized?  he's a 3/4 black.

someone went to the trouble of dna, PHA and TH testing of recognized.

Knabe. That bull STLR Recognized, is from AC Cattle in Neb. He is is out of one of their donor cows (62L).  I believe (might be wrong) she is also the mother of Mojito the popular AI sire that's pretty darn nice. There are several full brothers to Recognize, one being a herd sire for AC Cattle. Good pedigree.

It's a shame that bulls like Anchor Boy didn't get used more. Those big ribbed Maine's just did not work on those smaller domestic cows. Maine'sl with more internal dimension (yes there were some) just were harder calving. I also think most of the bigger ribbed bulls did not have the neck extension that was in demand and most breeders were shooting for that neat front end.

Knabe, why raise fullbloods? With all your knowledge of genetics I wonder why you choose what you did? No wrong answers mind you just not exactly a mainstream deal.

Couple theories, intrigue, challenge, preservation.

I'm dabbling in angus but only for access to semen I sold out of a few really old bulls.

DNA is coming and Maines potentially have some potential and if bw can be decoupled from performance then things could get interesting.

I don't think stinger is 100%.

Your list seems strange.  All over the place. Will snag a few. I only have pics of the old ones.

the list is just based mostly on memory, no particular order, and quick scan of some pedigrees I have that trace to those bulls.

you're right, Stinger wasn't 100%, I always thought he was-- I even had to look it up to confirm... scratch that thought.

My wife's aunt Joyce McKee has a whole bunch of old FB Maine pictures.

Here is a picture of the Fullblood bull that we use to own part of and have a few daughters of. Best heifer I have ever raised is out of one of his daughters sired by CF Star Bucks this year.

Nice bull. Nice hock and soft pasterns, tight sheathed, no break behind his shoulders might need bigger berries?
