I always liked Pericles a lot. I think outcrosses are kind of a different story with Galloways than with "improved" breeds. Fixing type is not much of an issue, although one might want to fine tune the details. I think a lot of the vitality in the Galloway breed comes from the traditional avoidance of line breeding. Just my idea today, I may learn differently. So I chose a bull outcrossed to a bull from Scotland, Braveheart. Just to get something different mixed in. Last year I saw some Braveheart calves at Berry's and liked them so took a chance. Also this bull had extra good ultrasound for marbling. But I think the Pericles son will be a thicker, heavier bull with more growth. My bull is a little like a 16 year old farm kid right now, with his arms too long for his shirt sleeves and his hair in his eyes. But plenty strong.
