So we just did the CIDR protocol for a cow, she never expressed heat and at the end of the time period (80 hrs from pulling the CIDR) her cervix did not feel at all rigid. We gave her a shot of GNRh and bred her anyways. My question is, what will happen with the GNRh? Will she drop an egg or just go on as usual? Has anyone had success with something like this?

The protocol I use is 66 hours.  We have had success but some just don't come in.  I use syncing mostly for embryo transplant and as a last ditch resort on cows I want to get AI bred.  I'll take a natural heat any day.

if the cow had a responsive and dominate follicle the GnRH would cause ovulation of that follicle, if she did not have a dominant follicle it would either support the growth of a less mature follicle or stimulate a new follicular wave. it depends on where the cow is at in her cycle and if she is a 2 wave/estrous cycle or 3 wave/estrous cycle cow.

sometimes you get lucky with cases like this but don't hold your breath

That is what I was thinking too. I should also add she calved twins on May 1st, so it would have been her first heat. We poured the alfalfa to her the week we had CIDR protocol in hopes of increasing her estrogen levels. She is also a 12 year old cow, so the math isn't working in my favor.
