Congratulations to the Iowa Simmental Assn.

The week we spent in Des Moine was a fun one and it was due in large part to the folks that hosted the show.  Thank you for such wonderful hospitality and pretty dang good weather!  Both of our kids had a really good time and we are looking forward to next year in Sedalia.

I totally agree!  They did a super job all week.  It was so nice not to have to worry about buying any of our meals.  Yes it was HOT, but we all survived!! <party> (clapping) <beer>

They did a fantastic job!  There were sure some interesting items on the menu but it was all good and no one went hungry.

LOL    I can think of one especially interesting meal.  But agree with all...... the meals were VERY affordable and overall no complaints here!!!  I wish I would have had time to meet all the planeteers that were at the show.  Seemed like time just flew for me each day.

Linz - I doubt we will be getting down to TX.  We have our regional then state here.  After that....... mayb Tulsa or the Royal.  This is our first year and my signifigant other has other plans for the family as well!  (ridin horses)  Not too mention there is the fact that hunting is my kryptonite!  ::)
We do enjoy the heck out of it tho.  I bet you did walk by a couple times.  We were in the MO stalls.  How did you fare at Nationals?

Yup.. Walked by plenty.. Good friends with Scott and were looking at a nice little heifer the Baileys had. My bred and owned was 5th in Division and my owned Purebred was 3rd in class. I was pretty happy..My first Simmy Nationals. Oh darn:( Showing cows is so much more fun than riding horses..not that I don't love horses (lol)

Yes it was a great week.  Was the meal you are talking about the ham balls with the cheesy potatoes.

IAbeef - You must be right about the taste.  It must be one that I have not acquired!  LOL  That was the only night we visited the McDonald's.  There was just something about it.  I tried though!  I am not the kind of person that leaves food on a plate, but two out of the three ham balls served,  were left idle.  I am sure there is something here in MO that ...... is specific to MO.  ;)

LinZ-  Ha you are quite familiar!  Our sr yearling came up lame the night before the show and ended up blowing an abcess four hours after the show was over.  :-\  that was out of our hands tho.  Other than that, the show was great.  She is much better now and seems to be getting around really well after we got her doctored up.  It was a bummer.  She is a Bailey heifer too.  Were you looking at Maci (Blaze)?  She is a showey lil heifer that we had kicked around buying a number of times.  She does really well for Ash in the ring.  (showmanship heifer)  Her other Sr Calf heifer is a ground sow.

OH no.. I'm glad she's doing better. I'm not sure the name.. the little Baldy fall born out of Trademark. Pretty nice little heifer.

Hi LinZ! See coach, I got to meet LinZ.... hahaha. And I got to admire her cattle:  oh and chew her out for not doing public speaking! I should have drug you along with me. I am sure you walked by her stalls tons. She was between the bathroom alley and the fitting alley.
Hey LinZ, our 3rd place cow calf pair is a Bailey cow. Best money we ever spent! They have good stuff. They sold the blaze heifer there at the nationals. I just saw their January bull Saturday, and we are going to get out butts kicked in the bull division.
And I have to agree about the meat balls, everyone in my family turned their nose at it. But they are all picky eaters and did not complain about any of the other food. When they did regional. In Louisiana,  I loved it. Nothing but authentic Cajun food..... yummy! Tasted things I never heard of but loved.

Ham balls are basically meatloaf made out of ground ham.....and much like meatloaf depends on the mix....we have all had scrarey meatloaf!!!!!  Good hamballs are covered in homemade bbq sauce......next time you get this way, contact me and I will treat you to good hamballs!

IABeef - you know, if I can find me a rip of a steer up north, I may just have to take you up on that!   ;)

Linz - yeah, that is Maci.  She is pretty good!  Our heifer is half sis to maci out of Trademark and ........ ah hem.... one of their donors.  We have big hopes for her so that foot thing was a kick in the butt.  Needless too say, I was a lil apprehensive about our upcoming district show with how she looked when we left IA, but ....... she is doing well and I hope that she has freshened up a bit since then.  Hard to tell when you see them each and every day.

FSSR - Tell your daughter I got an envelope in the mail with a wonderful Thank You.  I am glad that Becca had such wonderful success with the pair.  It was fun showing her some things on clipping.  I hope that she sticks with it!!!

Kanshow  -  lol
