I know she isn’t a steer but I do have a question..so hope it is ok

I have a heifer, she is a May We All Dec 2023 born

She’s currently on Purina Full Range but plan to switch her due to that not being available at my feed store anymore

and Should i be feeding 2 or 3% of her body weight?

I was told either Rival Bold or Base…

What’s better, pros cons etc. Want to get her to her full potential as she has TONS of it.

Any help would be appreciated!!

Thank you all

No worries, what’s her body weight and what’s your goal weight?
body weight as of tuesday is 658. goal is to get her to her full potential that she has and show at fair and jackpots and then put her out to pasture to breed when it’s time

If end goal is a breeding heifer, I would feed her a higher protean lower fat diet. I would feed her a 60/40 mix of a good grower Something with a protean around 13-13.5 ( I like fitters edge from Purina but there are all kinds out there) and a lower fat content like 2.5 and Purina precon, about 8 pounds a feeding to start ( you will want to slowly change her feed not just change it), as she develops you can adjust the feed or add rice bran to increase the fat content.

so she’s going to be shown at jackpots and county fair and then continued to be shown and then bred sometime next year

she’s currently on purina full range but switching her to show rite cruiser. purina is hard to get in right now as it’s becoming less popular.

she’s currently on pre con as well

i was told with breeding heifers you feed 1-2% body weight? that way they don’t get fat?

she’s also on free choice grass hay
