Help on some semen codes.

Trying to figure out what some of these bulls are without taking the tank to a stud. Any help would be appreciated!!

Is the prefix similar if a bull was collected at the same stud?  Is your 49SP1206 possibly collected at the same place as my Rob Sneed semen, which starts with 049?

Are 21SP003 & 21SP001 collected by the same outfit that collected Gator?

You have 3 Sire Code Numbers that begin with 1SP.

My ABS Keep'n Track book goes back to 2008.  How far back in time could these codes go?  I'll dig out a couple of my older Frozen Semen Inventory books to see if I can match any more codes for you--in the '90's I used bulls that are not in this book.

Looking through www.cattle.com's cane codes gives "high velocity" as 21sp003  (assuming extra zeros in list are place holders)

14sp104 as ""Winchester"

I have to quit but he has a big list to help with these there may be more in the list...

Wouldn't those shorthorn bulls of the late 80's and early 90's be of that vintage of step ladder cattle or did they start bringing them down by then? My memory is not the greatest I can not remember.

Most of those bulls would be considered a little large framed for today with the exception of Vision and Double Talent.  I always thought Winchester was a pretty good bull.

here's a good reference for anyone trying to look up code numbers.  The numbers before the breed code represent the stud code.  Ex-1-Genex, 14- Accelerated, 29-ABS, etc. 

By the way, 1SP5 is Creole and I think that has some $ value.

Could 1SP004 be Waukaru Carnegie?  In my book Carnegie was listed as 1SP0004, so it might be another bull?  I'd still breed heifers to W. Carnegie if that is what it is.

OHB, yea most of those bulls during that time were a little larger framed.
Oakview, I agree with you on Winchester. On the right cow he made some pretty good momma cows. When I bought the Willard / Keith herd several years ago, the bulls that were included in the herd was Stonelea Winchester, JJ Denim, SC Irish Mark, NPS Durango and NPS Improvers Stride.
