Here in East Texas it is currently 34 degrees at 8:15am CST on March 7 and we are having a blizzard!  That being said, I teach school and as I look out my window, HS boys athletics is on the football field playing in the snow!  Can't say that happens too often around here!

Hot, cold, hot, hot, hot!  I am looking out the office door and it is snowing in East Texas, it will not stick though it is only 35.  By Sunday it is suppose to be back up to 72 for a high.  The steers are enjoying it, they did not have to go in the cool room today.  Three weeks until show and it will be a battle for most to keep hair.

Up here in the barron wasteland that is NW IA/SW MN, this crap goes through every 3-5 days.  The roads are covered with 1-4 inches of ice and the local hospital had 9 rollover accidents on Tues night.

Please, show me some GREEN (angel)

Tonight it is supposed to get down to 13 and then a gradual warming until Monday and then it will be getting seasonal for a few days.  (clapping)  Have only had to have two in the garage, but have drenched several others just to make sure they get going.  Of course the cold calves were on EXTREMELY mean cows.  I hope they have finally bought their tickets for the ride to town.  My husband is much more forgiving than I am on the mean thing.  Used to be fun now just a lot of work.  It would probably be a fun video for others to watch when we have to take one of their calves away.  Always an experience.

SW MO,

Are you going to be in Springfield, for the Ozark Shorthorn Association Spring Classic Sale? It's at the Sale barn on the west side of town, over by the United-Built Homes' display-model Home Center?

No, but some friends of ours will probably be there.  We primarily concentrate on the Charolais side of the cattle/show bus. with just a few Maines mixed in.  The Springfield facility is nice but dress for the weather if the wind is blowing it can get really cold in the pens.

I am going to attmept to attach a couple of pictures I took this morning of some of our cows.  We are about 1/2 way though our "blizzard" here in OH.  I know to some of you this is normal, but it isn't for us  ;D
We are supposed to get 13inches of snow and 40 mile and hour winds.  This is NUTS!

Just let the blue heeler in the garage. The barn kitten finds warm holes in the hay bales.

Hey Red, things are beginning to look up here is SW MO so hopefully the good weather is headed your way.  Last night was cold for this time of year(16).  Yeah I know you guys up North think I'm a wimp but that's why I don't live any further North I know I am.  Weather is beginning to moderate and will be in the 60's by the beginning of the week.  Of course that now that we have the majority of the 1st and 2nd calf heifers calved out.  Oh well, all's well that ends well.

Red it looks like you have a great place to winter cattle nice wind breaks.

It is even cold in North Texas today. First hard freeze this year. Farrel baby cats are still alive and seem well in the back of my house.

Red, those pictures are beautiful. I know it is cold up in your neck of the woods. Just try and stay warm. Hang in there. It won't last forever.
