Hope the link works. The house was floating down I-24 on the south side of Nashville , yesterday. Franklin Martin & myself were trying to get home from Clemson ,SC & 3 of the 6 interstates going into Nashville were closed because of flooding. I'm at 10" of rain right now in 24 hours & still pouring with tornado watches. 5 are confirmed dead so far from the flooding in TN. I've never seen anything like it. A friend of mine was at 12" of rain yesterday afternoon at about 2:00 & he is just a hour west of me.

They had that on the news last night and showed it floating down the highway and all of the cars under water, horrible sight!

Yesterday I looked at Nashville on weather underground (wunderground) and it was simply amazing.  Most of us cannot imagine 15" or rain--record for 2 day rainfall was set as well as single day?  I'm a river rat (bottoms farmer) and have trouble comprehending the extent of your flooding.

In central IN there were 500 year rainfall events every 10 years for a while.  What's this, a 2000 year rain event?  Keep us posted, if you can find time during the days that follow.

Doc, I'm thinking a lot about Brent and you.  Did Jack's go underwater?

Good luck to all of you in the flood areas.  It causes so much devastation to crops & livestock.

Well the Cumberland River in Nashville finally crested . It made it to 52' , flood stage is 40'. An underground breaker blew in Nashville last night & most of downtown is without electricity until Friday at the earliest before the workers will even be able to reach the breakers to start working on it due to the water. Opryland Hotel & the Grand Ole Opry flooded along with Opry Mills shopping center which has a Bass Pro Shop & 15 boats floated away.
My work was under 54" of water. Hopefully it will start receding now, but everything is a total loss.
It is something else down here. I know it has happened in other places , but until it has happened to you, it is unimaginable. Just said on TV , dry until Friday & then thunderstorms.

It is hard for me to grasp that much rain in one day. We normally get about 12 inches in a year... including the snow....lots of years we get less than that.I remember getting 10 inches in one day many years ago, and I remember it washing roads out, cutting gullies in fields, etc, but this is 50% more than that. Simply amazing. Good luck to everyone there. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
