This is the only "chat site" I use because it is so easy to navigate.  I enjoy the wide variety of topics both cattle and not cattle related.  Some things don't interest me, so I just don't read those, other topics I find myself logging in all the time to see what the latest is.

I  also say don't change a thing!

This board is really set up right and can be summed up simply - Post what you want and folks will read what they want.  Why change anything.

Haven't read entire thread so if this already posted sorry; Why not add another board for "anything goes"; keep one for cows; that way when in a hurry can just check what you are interesed in without sorting through a lot of other posts

Do I care if someone spews their guts out on this board...no, I don't read them, but if I was that 12 year old that the mother ripped on on SP, it would be a VERY LONG time before I trusted "dear ol' Mom" again. That is what communication is about between family members, not strangers on a board in which her friends can read. Sad is what I call that.
I also have concerns about "privacy"....seems to me, some that have access to info share it rather frequently as to who is who and where they are. And I don't think that is right. Seems that "information" is being shared to others when it was told in friendship and confidence...I guess that just shows what kind of person one is dealing with.

Show Heifer-
I just got back today and I read this post from you and I don't think what you had to say was very nice at all.  I did not "rip" my child on this board.  I feel like I needed some advice from people that were compassionate and caring, and I knew from other posts that we had those kind of people on this board!!  The funny thing about it is I told my daughter and my husband about the post that I started and about the problems others were having with their kids.  So there you go, "dear ole mom" as you called me, is trusted and loved by her family.  If people choose to read and respond to a post that is great.  If the post is not your cup of tea, then just don't read it.  I love my daughter and she loves me, maybe you don't know or have love and that is your problem.  I was having a pretty good morning until I read the post from you.

you know I've been thinking about this post for a couple days....I may not agree with some on this board, but if we all had the same opinions it wouldn't be a board of knowledge.  I don't think anyone should be bashed for an opinion or a belief.  What I do have is a problem of it getting personal.  I can see why simmimom took it personal, and heck I've even jumped at people for personally jumping me or friends.  Even the people that think I'm a bully on here, I consider part of my steerplanet family.  Like they say, you cann't choose family...you look within the ones that irk you and see the good in them.  I've had to do that a time or two.  I've really been selective on what I post about anymore due to past problems. (hard to believe by the number of posts I have but I seriously have)

This board is wonderful.  Proof is in the numbers.  In all honesty, it doesn't take but a minute to scroll down the board and figure out what you want to read and don't.  If I open one that isn't what I thought it was I just go back and look at others.  Some that has problems with "personal" posts have enjoyed them in the past.  I recall a cinnamin roll recipe one got off here that they love and now doesn't care for the posts.  There is a mixture of everything here....the good, the bad, and the ugly.  Just enjoy your steerplanet family everyone.  I really think asking Jason to do this and do that is a lot to ask of him.  Heck, remember this is a FREE site, and the moderators do there "job" for FREE.

Let's post has went all over the place....feelings hurt, other feelings laid out on the board.  Now even though many don't like it, let's give each other a big Steerplanet hug and go back to doing what we do best...posting great posts on a great board!

whew now I'm tired

Very well said, justme.

There are actually a few posters that used to get on my nerves that I look forward to reading now. I still might not agree with them about everything, but by taking the time to try to understand where they're coming from, I appreciate their opinions alot more.

There's a reason boards like this are considered "online communities". Like any other community, it has it's own style. No matter where you live (or work or hang out) you're going to end up with some neighbors that you might not ordinarily seek out as friends. Funny thing is, once you get to know some of those people, they often turn out to be really interesting. Sometimes they're the one's you end up learning the most from, too.
