A brass monkey is what was  used  years ago  to stack cannon balls on.    They were brass so they wouldn't corrode together with the steel cannon balls.

RW -- you are very correct -- she is the most understanding, warm hearted person you would ever want to meet -- she has to be to put up with me for the last 32 years. I have tested her countless times, she always wins the prize for that!

She takes after her dad -- he was from Minnesota as well -- hehehehe -- I couldn't resist!! WE lost him a few years ago to cancer -- sorely missed!

We hit -30 last night with a 35mph wind. Not sure what our windchill was, but my math puts it at -65. I'm getting to be a pro at thawing waterers though!

Blizzard warning here in SW Mich. 10" new snow today with 40+ MPH wind. Temps are around 5 deg. There was a big 50+ vehichle pileup on I-94, one person killed when rear ended by semi in whiteout conditions. All churches were cancelled and some of the counties have pulled the plows off the roads until tomorrow AM. Have only had three days in Dec. without snow so far. We are on track for the cloudiest Dec. on record. Definantly on track for a white Christmas this year.

I am ready for spring!
