Does anyone know what type of semen is out there on some old K-Kim Bulls? The Castlerock bull and the Merlot bull really interests me but didn't know what all is out there.

I got 3 embryos from Fischer Cattle Co. A few years ago that were sired by Castlerock, but I don't know if they would have any semen on him

We've got some Castlerock knocking around somewhere. Just sold a May Castlerock last week to Texas for just almost 5 figures and she is green as a gourd and not even roughed out. Hairiest calf we have had in the barn this year. I'm convinced those bulls can still work. Would be very interested in learning more about Merlot after some conversations I've had about these old bulls this year.

If anyone has used any other K-Kim bulls please share. Im also curious to see what kind of cows they work well on. I've had some ideas but would love to hear other thoughts and ideas.

Oketo was one of my favorites.  Cash and Cruiser were used with some success as well.

He had K-Kim Dazzler who was a reserve national Champ and faded so we thought-Marstens National Champ bull was sired by him or out of a daughter and so was one other. My favorite bull at the time was RS After Hours-who alot like Wildside didnt get his due. This is him  him a few years ago at Dwayne Sicts still breeding cows at 8-9 years old  or so- O0

The people that we originally started leasing cattle from owned K-Kim Payton.  He was a fairly good calving ease bull, that sired a Denver Champion bull, as well as the maternal grandsire to Lautner's Res. National Champ Maintainer at Kansas City a couple years ago.  As far as I know they still have semen.  They came easy and grew well, although they seemed to be a little later maturing.  They were a tick finer boned than some, but very sappy bellied and incredibly sound.

Joe Metzger in Indiana used to advertise Cash semen, Cruiser was used by Cates and Sullivan and there was semen around on him, Oketo was used in many herds so there's got to be semen available.  Last Call was another bull that was displayed about the same time as Castlerock I believe.  If I remember correctly, he was a little more moderate framed.  Semen was available on him as well.  The source would be a good place to start.

K-Kim Gold Version is available from one or more of the AI companies.  We have a couple of calves by him.

RS After Hours can sire more clubby type of cattle.

Then there is a bull called Free K-Kim Hot Commodity...you may have heard of him?

Kevin had a bull he called Amazon.  He was never used much and Kevin did not want to sell him.  I thought he was as good of a bull as I had seen.  I saw several calves out of him and some simmy cows that were very good.

I remember there were a couple sibs of him that he sold and had some progeny in a sale-He was an Einmore Marquis out of the K Kim Foxy  doner by vortec out of his elbee cow. Stands to reason he'd look good-all that improver on the Canadian blood plus the CE He really knew how to breed them. O0

Do you know what happened to Amazon, Will? That genetic package sounds really interesting.
