Calling him a high priced gomer bull reminds me of a story my dad told about running into Edgar Philpott at the stockyards one time.  Edgar had hauled in a very impressive looking about three year old Charolais heifer and asked dad what he thought of it.  Edgar then said it was some of the most expensive hamburger either one of them had ever seen as he had imported the heifer from France only to discover that she was a freemartin after she never cycled.

Here is another SH bull bred in Western Canada that the locals wll likely get quickly, he saw some use in Canada, not sure if he was marketed in the U.S or not.

I think I know, but I will wait to let some others try and figure out who this bull may be. If he is the bull I am thinking of, he is out of an Irish Mist daughter that I sold at Agribition in 1982. She was also the dam of a heifer that was Grand Champion female at Denver in the mid 80s.

an Irish Mist Grandson, through his Sire Poplar Park Mist 4R.  My guess is JT Titan, a bull who is stacked in a lot of Saskatchewan, and Manitoba pedigreed Shorthorns.

Bingo,

That would be right, JT Titan.

I remember the Titan daughters when I was a kid, I think he saw a fair bit of use in Canada, but I'm unsure if he was ever used in the U.S?

Here is another one to try.  It is probably a different picture than what is usually seen of the bull.

I am thinking this is GS Touche' 3XA, who was bred and owned by Guy Sumption, Fredrick, SD. Touche was a bull that was ahead of his time and should have been used more than he was. He really made them thick. He sired good cattle in both sexes. The Sumptions are some of the very early club calf producers in the US. I can remember as a young kid, dreaming of getting a steer from the famous Sumption Bros. steer and heifer sale. Even back in the early 60s, their top steers were bringing $4000- $5000.

I've been trying to find a picture of Touche, he's the grandsire of both of my best cows. I can see where they get their thickness now.  The Sonny x Touche cow looks VERY much like her grandsire.

Yep, Touche' was a very thick bull with lots of muscle.

Here are a couple of more pictures of Touche' that I had.  Enjoy!

He is also the grandsire of one of my best cows who, at 10, will most likely be getting flushed a few times after calving next spring.  She has been a great cow, weans a good calf, and always stays in the same condition.  It doesn't seem to matter if she has a calf nursing or is on cornstalks.  The only downside is that her calves tend to be right around 110lbs every year.  We've bred her to everything from monster BW bulls to proven low BW bulls and have only had two calves under 100 lbs (her first calf 78 and last year 96lbs).  I would like to get some semen on the old bull.  Does anyone know where it can be found?
