showstopper is a great heifer bull. we had three calves out of first calf heifers this year. none over 75 pounds. a red and white heifer out of a pb shortorn (doublestuff grand daughter), a solid red out of a black and white heatwave daughter(thats right a calf out of a hw heifer that weighed less than 75 pounds!) and a black bull(steer) out of a comm angus heifer. they're all in the show/sale pen.

i posted some pics back in the spring i'll see if i can't dig them out later. at first i wished they were thicker and had a bit more bone. they sure took off when we put the feeder out tho. he'll put a good neck on one and they're sound as cats. lots of rib. maybe would like to see better hip structure. they seem to have good dispositions. he can color one up too. that doesn't bug me at all but i know it does some. if you've got some heifers i'd give him a shot. he's probably not big league enough to breed a bunch of mature cows to, but he'll give that first calf a chance of bringing more than sale barn price

ok, i can't resist.

he was one of the earliest maine bulls tested for tenderness and marbling genes.  he's homozygous for T1 and QG1

these are the most common.  his famous son ali, is hetero by deduction for the 3 tenderness genes, and i don't know for the marbling, though obviously he has at least one copy.  ali is in the top 15% of the breed for marbling, which isn't saying much.

personally, i'd use the double bred energizer son over ali, just because.  doesn't mean he has those markers in same amount.
