Here is my heifer - fresh back from the OSU animal hospital.  They never could completely solve her respiratory issues, but she certainly has been better since I've had her home the last two weeks.

They gave her Dexamethasone, Micotil, and treated her with Levamosole (for possible lung worm - though they did not find any adult worms).

Prior to her week stay at OSU she had all the big antibiotics (Baytril, Draxin, Nuflor, and Excede), plus several injections of Banamine.  She still tends to get warm, but I am keeping her under fans unless it is below freezing (as prescribed by the vet).

Would the Dex make that big of a difference in her respiratory rate and lung inflammation?

Here she is after I cleaned her up and rough clipped her today - hoping my daughter can show her at the Gallipolis BEST show next Saturday.

Glad you got her back.  Ever hear back from the seller?

I've had several conversations with the seller.  To his credit, he offered to pay the OSU bill, which I thought was quite fair.

I think she looks pretty darn good considering the rough road she's had.  I think that the seller paying the OSU bill would be pretty fair, especially if she's well on her way to being healthy now. Good luck at the show!

She looks good. Good Luck!! Just be careful with her , with her on the road to recovery & going to the show could be a big stress to her.

The OSU bill was just under $600.  My total vet costs are almost twice that.

Those high powered meds are expensive!

I sure hope she turns out to be worth it.
