Is that what Red would want?

I know we all feel awful. But Red worked very hard to make this a place for cattle enthusiast to gather. Some how not posting feels to me to go against her work. At the same time she would understand.

Take your time, post if you feel like it. Just don't stay away to long. Because we all need to work together to take her work forward.

I thought the same thing when I posted after I learned of Red's passing. I debated for a few seconds about posting at all, and then thought that Red would have wanted us to carry on. As SD said, this does not mean that we do not feel sad. To me, it means that this site was important to her and she would want us to carry on and try to make it an even better place after she was gone. I think we now will have a guardian angel watching over SP and all it's members.

SD is exactly right.  In order to help keep up w/ what Red would want, we must keep posting, even if we don't feel like it.  I know that I feel horrible, but I also know that visiting this website it will help with the pain for not only me, but also a majority of the members here @ SP.  We here @ SP are truly a wonderful family!

I am the same here folks -- feel empty as hell.

I know Red would have wanted me to continue talking about breeding techniques and theory -- as I have for the last 5-6 years on here and another site. I doubt if I can volunteer with the enthusiansum I had before, but I promise, if any one needs help or advise, post it and I will do my best to continue the tradition.

Heart is empty -- I called another member the other day to console as best I could, but got the cold shoulder if you will -- so I will just be here alone. Yup -- I feel pretty empty -- we still have not got the donated flush done we all put together last year -- the cow has never came for the flush but it is still on the books to be done.

Some day I hope to be able to do another round of that -- I have pictures of Woody picking the winner -- a proud day for Red -- memories!

Try and have a fruitfull day folks, it will take some time for us all I am sure!

Smile Red -- we are still here and kickin!

I remember the line in a poem I read or heard somewhere that might sum up how Red would look at the emptiness we are all feeling. I didn't know her personally but felt like I did.
The words went something like.

REMEMBER ME WITH LAUGHTER. IF YOU CAN ONLY REMEMBER ME WITH TEARS THEN DON'T REMEMBER ME AT ALL.

Cathy had her problems as we know but it was so refreshing to read her posts and see how much love she had for life, for her cattle, for her family, for all of us and for GOD. She tried to see the best in all of us and her life. So definately remember her with LAUGHTER as it will help heal. God Bless Mark and her family.

You are all correct - Cathy would definatly want us all to march on as zach said - but it sure has been a couple of difficult days for all of us that have been touched by Cathy - But yes she loved steerplanet so we all must do as she would want us to do- I feel for Reds family as when I lost my father that void never really goes away.

I've been trying to get my bullcalf goin.  Has no desire to suck.  I've tubed him twice and now he is starting to move around and actually got up and stretched a little bit ago.  I feel really encouraged by him stretching!  He has had a tough go of it.  He fell in a stream that runs through our pasture and was really cold when I found him. Momma calved a week and a half early.

I posted this earlier on another post, this will work without question:

1 quart of milk replacer
2 Tbsp of honey
1 raw egg
strong cup of coffee
shot of whiskey

Tube the little feller with that and he will be motivating soon.  Has worked on every calf I have used it on.

I'll put this in my recipe book but when I went out this morning the little guy was latched on!  He is still pretty weak but I think I'm over the hump!  Thanks everyone!
