Opinions on Angus Bull calf

Here is a Jan. 26 bullcalf 81lb. BW out of a first calf heifer.  He is a Gambles Royal Flush X TC Freedom.  He will be the heaviest critter ever weighed at weaning on our place(at least I think so).  Opinions good and bad are welcome.

Does he have some extra neck leather or what is his front end like?  With Royal Flush being a Marathon son, what were the birth weights like??  He looks good!

He realy doesn't have much leather up there.  He has just a tick of it but I think he'll grow into it.  I was trying to get a true profile pic but he was pretty interested in what I was doing this morning.  I'll try and post another pic showing his front extended.  I would call this bull good fronted.  Probably not rocket fronted, but it won't bother alot of people.   Royal Flush is a really neat made bull in the front 1/3.  We've had some Marathon calves and they have alot more leather than what Royal Flush has.   I think the bull averaged around 80 lbs. for calves.

Are you one of the owners in Royal Flush, or did you buy semen?  I see Top Line Angus has him listed as a herd sire, but wasn't sure if a bull stud carried him.  His new epd proof is kind of interesting.  Just curious...  Did you have any more sibs to him??

I'm not an owner.  Bought some semen.  I had a bull last year by him and sold him as a bull for good money.  He was out of the same cow family and made similiarly,  but not as explosive as this guy.

I, too, would like to hear what people think about Currency. I am planning on using him on Image Maker cows. I think that cross will be really nice...

Bluff Country Cattle, we used OSU Currency and MCATL Reachout.  The Currency's are pretty good.  I would say just to watch the front ends.  They don't get leathery....it's more like thick necked, IMO.  Other than that they are really nice.  If you do use him, I would breed him to your really nice fronted cows.  They'll have hair too!

The Reachouts were kind of scary at first.  When they were born they were all kind of bony looking and just didn't seem to have much to them.  Once they hit that 3 month mark they really take off.  My best heifer is a Reachout and she is a maternal sister to damn of the bullcalf pictured above.  I've been trying to get a good picture of her to put on here but can't get one that does her justice.  This heifer will show though!  She is the definition of Rocket front and has some real mass to her.  If you want hair, Reachout isn't your bull.  They look pretty slick.

I wouldn't have expected that kind of a front on Currency. Thanks for the heads up, though. My Image Makers are a little "cowy", but I may still try it. I saw some really nice ET calves with that cross...
