Read an article about sheep a bit ago - they took a bunch of sheep and showed them pictures (for real) and then measured their responses - sheep recognize their "friends" faces, had specific preferences for other sheep and humans, and showed aversion to humans who yelled at them (not sure I have all the specifics right) - what I took from this article is that they might be smarter than we have given them credit for in the past so maybe the oxymoron would be dumb sheep? ;D
