First time that we actually banded instead of cutting, trying something different this year.I was wondering if it would hurt anything if we started rinsing the calf while the band is still on. It has only been about a week since we banded but my kids wanted to start rinsing the calves as well as the steers.  what is everyones thoughts on this?

Thanks

Start rinsing away. If anything the hydrotherapy will do some good. Did they slit the bag open after the band was on? If not I might would try to. That lets the gases out instead of having to go inwards and will make the healing time much, much quicker and safer.

We cut our calves. Usually rinse blood etc off the day of castration leave them rest a day and then start light rinsing. They seem to actually like it in this warm weather plus it keeps the flys away and makes them more comfortable. I can't see how banding would be any more traumatic.
