I have the dreaded ringworm and we live in cold Minnesota.  I have read the article for ringworm on the webpage but I am just wondering what everyone has tried.  We did the bleach and I think alll is dead but what have you used to stimulate hair growth?  Is the Fluid Flim good to use?  Has anyone used rogaine?

Haven't used that product, but the rogaine was no use and too expensive.  The Sullivan fungus fighter and monistat are the best cures for us. I heard that you can use the cleaner for pierced ears because it is the same as fungus fighter???  I noticed though that we haven't had ringworm for two years since we got into goats. ( crazy but true)

Bacon grease. I swear by it and have used it for years. Also DO NOT scrape it till it bleeds that just makes it take longer to heal and have hair grow back. Just put the grease on daily or more and it will kill it and keep the skin moist and the hair will come back faster. Feel the calf all over and if you feel the bump where one is starting just get the grease down in the hair and it will kill it. Using a blower to part the hair all over the body helps find new spots too. It is something you can use on the face without worrying about getting a spray in the eyes. Frostie

we've had good luck using Lamisil athlete's foot cream....kills the fungus and keeps the skin from drying out so hair comes back quicker.

Fulvison. orally. It will 100% kill it. It's going to take as long as it takes to grow hair back. Ringworm is caused by a fungus. If you have a bad yeast infection, what does your doctor give you? A prescription for an oral pill. One treatment almost always works. Same thing with ringworm.

Here,s my one reply for this season. Apply a liberal amount of used diesel engine oil with a paint brush directly on affected areas. One treatment is all that's needed, and you will see new hair growth in 3-4 days.

Fulvison,  I put the packet in a gel bolus and down the hatch. From what I understand the Fulvison settles in the skin and kills all ringworm. I always give 2 doses, 14days apart.

Fulvison is an Equine drug. I don't actually know what it is used for in horses, but possibly one of the vets or horse PPL can pipe in so that we can learn. It used to be in bolus form and was easy to get, but you will have to get it from a vet with a prescription. It now comes in powder form. Some PPL feed it in powder form, but I would recommend putting it in a gel cap and give orally. Then you know that the calf/calves are getting their correct dosage. We always used to give one treatment, but lately more & more PPL are giving 2 treatments 2 weeks apart. I don't know if this is necessary. You'll have to discuss that with your own vet. Cost here was about $9.00/head.

Elbee's remedy is more than likely worth a shot B/C you won't find a remedy any cheaper and he has had alot of experience. I think that we all want to use what has worked for us. The Fulivon is can't miss for us, but next outbreak I will try Lee's used diesel motor oil remedy. I'm a tight Dane.

try MTG, get it at tractor supply. its for any irritation and it grows hair back super fast! its for horses but can be used on cattle.  It is used to grow the mane of horses faster. WORKS BETTER THAN ANY SULLIVAN FUNGUS TREATMENTS!

We came back from the American Royal and WOW we got it bad here.  EVERYTHING in the barn has it, and it feels like I've tried EVERYTHING even Vick's vapor rub lol.  Wish this nasty stuff would just run its course here!

Sunshine and lots of it would help.      When we had lambs a couple years ago, they had it bad & then of course the calves got it.  Our vet had us give the lambs an injectable antibiotic as well as treat it topically.  We did the same with the calves.

I could be wrong but I don't know if a vet will give you fulvicin for cattle.  At least I don't think they are supposed to.  I use fulvicin myself and was able to get it because we have a donkey.  Again....I'm not sure if our vet was just being difficult or if there is fact to it.  Seems like alot of people use it.

I know that I can get it easily from more than one vet, but I'm sure that there are some that may not want to give it. I would like to know why other than it is off label. In other words, what it is suppose to do to the cattle that would make it a questionable treatment for them. Lana would you know the adverse side effects other than that it is for horses and cattle are human food source?

Fulvicin is an antibiotic if I am correct.  Maybe there is an extended withdrawl period?  Cab, you are right...as long as you wait the withdrawl time it should be alright.  I'm sure we're missing something though.

I have mentioned this treatment before, Blue Star ointment works the best on Ringworm. It's cheap, and kills it dead. Hair starts growing back in just days. It's the best thing we have ever used.
You can get it over the counter at any local drug store, just ask for it.
