Friday is pretty much the last day - Sale starts at 3:00 pm cst

Be sure to make the short drive to Genex in Strafford, MO.  We have a few Red Angus bulls here in stud and would love to meet everyone and show you around.  (This is Bobwire's wife - I work at Genex - guess I need to get my own SP log-on some time).  I'll also be attending the Commercial Cattlemen's Forum Wednesday afternoon during the convention.  I also STILL have all 4 of our Corgi puppies who were listed earlier in the summer in the classifieds.  I'll post them again there, but I'm ready to do some dealing on them if anyone would like to pick one up while you are in town for the convention.  Hope to meet some SP members.

High selling female was lot 15 at $9000, second high seller was lot 1 at $8500, third high seller was lot 43 at $7300. There were 7 Tim Cox prints sold as a fund raiser that averaged $4000 and a bronze bull that sold for $5000. Overall it was an excellent convention and sale. RW

Thank you for the update.    Did anybody at the conference discuss the new "RangeFire" composite (Charolais X Red Angus)?  That is kind of starting to catch on here in a small way.

This cross has been popular around here for years. My uncle has done this cross for about 8-10 years now and usually tops the market with the calves. He has recently started to feed out his own (built an awsome facilities). And he swears this cross makes fast gaining and more importantly cattle that will grade.
He started this cross when his mature cow size got way too big (he had commercial char's), so he went with red angus  due to not wanting "grey's".... He now gaining on getting that strawberry cross cow! They are smaller, require less engery, milk well, and have better breed back ability. 

Many around here with white cows (char or char crosses) are using red bulls to get those strawberry calves, and to avoid the rat tail greys.

So I have chuckle when I hear about this "new" breeding idea!

You'll have to tell us how the prices are. Looks like some good stuff, and mixing the two breeds was an EXCELLENT idea. We put on our first sale (4-State Simm Solution), and piggy backed on a big red angus sale at the Springfield Auction center(MO) back in April (they were in the morning and we were in the afternoon). Lots of people stuck around for both sales, and we had several red angus breeders take a few simmi's home with them  ;D
