Shorthorn bulls for heifers?? TM Gus & Creekside Amp

I’m new into cattle and I’m looking to breed my shorthorn Heifer! I’m wondering who’s a good bull for heifers? I know EPD’s aren’t always accurate and I want some real experiences. I’ve been looking at TM Gus 36S and Creekside Amp 32W. Here’s a picture of my Heifer

TM GUS can be very high BW-that would be a huge mistake-Creekside amp should be Ok-There are also a number of other good low Bw Shorthorns of various types Kane Captain, Jakes Sultan of Jazz, Ar Sulu Osage and massive,Lanes Mr Colt,Tabasco,JSF Mr Right,Turners Deception all are on SEK but Kane Captain and Jsf Mr Right ALL ARE TRIPLE CLEAN-But whatever you do-DONT USE GUS ON A HEIFER If it were me looking at the heifer -I wouldnt worry about the DS and use Red White and Roan- O0

I agree with Mark on Gus. Not for heifers. Have no idea on Amp. Never used him. Ones that I do use are Kolt Kane Nitro, Deception and Hot Commodity. I'll picture a calf by each of these bulls in the order I listed here and all out of 1st calf heifers.

1st one is by Kane Nitro out of a Swagger dtr from Schrags about a 1 1/2 months after calving this spring as a 2 year old.

2nd one is a March 2017 Deception bull out of a Shadybrook bred heifer. (He's for sale by the way)

3rd one is by Hot Commodity out of a Destiny Best heifer from CYT taken end of last summer before calving last fall as a 2 year old.

(clapping) (clapping) (clapping) <party> <beer> O0 Now them's good ones-I think some of the people with native type cattle awta look here-Look at the quality and how stout-and any one of them even being out of hier BW show genetics on the dams side-wont give up much at all in terms of birthwieghts. I really like Ralph Larsons, IDA Lee, and some of those other cattle out there weve seen posted recently-ESPECIALLY PROMISED LAND-cattle (Def not native-DEF GOOD)-and if you read this-consider this breeding  on a couple-they are on beautiful grass-but are no fatter than yours would be-not to mention that buffalo grass etc out there is also very good. O0

Thanks. Her first calf by Hill Haven Distinction made the cut from this fall. He is 1 of only 2 bulls kept from the fall group. Not bad for a first calf heifer.
I'm picturing her full brother that went to IL and is producing his first crop of calves up there this spring. This pic is of him as a weanling.

What is in your females pedigree? Match your bull to your dam. There are several options available. I will always go to Gizmo. Any time I see his semen I buy it. He was rock solid on calving. I used TM Gus on cow and he is NOT for heifers. Cow had tons of calving ease and it was a light pull but beautiful heifer. Look at what your female might lack and then evaluate what is available for calving ease. First go around should be lively healthy calf. I do not believe the good one's come out the side.

well Ohio-I see alot of helpful responses and some high quality suggestions with even higher quality progeny shown in pictures by those who took their time to respond-In terms of the poster-I see no response-not even a thank you-and based upon the picture of the heifer absolutely no quality there at all-I really hope the poster has the sense to read the responses RE breeding a heifer in general. O0
