I have a 13 year old shorthorn ( double stuff• AF warrior) cow that has raised alot of calves, that did really well and has sold really well! We are going to take her to trans ova to do a in vitro flush. The ? I have is we want a belly dragging shorthorn heifers from this mating that will excel in the showering and pasture! Our thoughts have been trump, bloodstone or ace of diamonds? But would like your opinions and will be greatly appreciated! This has produced 3 Indiana state fair division winners(steers) but we want heifers! Thanks in advance for any advice!

Depends on how much of a belly dragging cow you have. Unless she is super super soggy, not sure that AOD should be your 1st choice for what you are describing you want. He does a lot of good things, but adding guts typically isn't one of them. With that being said, Vogels have had a good bit of luck using him on the same genetics that your cow is, and have done well with them in the showring. He also has sexed semen available which is a plus.

She is very soggy, but we want deep heifers out of her that will perform well in the show ring and pasture! She is a easy doing great cow! We have a who made who daughter out of her that is a top producer and a fortune and glory that just had a really nice I 80 calf which was her first calf! The wmw is very deep

None of the genetics you mentioned will produce "easy doing great cows" nor will they produce "belly dragging shorthorns." These genetics will produce: longer, flater sided cattle that when pushed on a high energy feedstuff, will appear 'fuller' and more aesthetically pleasing from the profile. Generally these cattle are narrower based than you'd expect from their stature but they do provide more extension and generally more length of spine than their belly dragging more functional counter parts.

Warrior eliminates belly dragging on almost everything-but if you already have Stuff there-its a good thing-because you"ll also retain some size: I would use ALM Chiller (if you can get the semen) for a number of pedigree and phenotypical reasons-IF NOT the following-Farrers bulls, new white jazz son (pha),FSF Hardline-kleen,FSF Starburst kleen, Soft Rock (pha) Free For All clean-UB DMCC Top Fuel-a really good breeding son of Free For All out of a complete outcross Cumberland cow (double cleanxpedigree) MB Steer Maker-one of the best Old School bulls-and one of the ones that started the club calf industry,WKF Oldschool-sire of Aberteees Professor-etc. I personally would steer clear of the Bloodstone et al pedigree with Warrior close up in the pedigree-As for Maines like 1-80,Gucci,Wisdom,WITCHDOCTOR,Mecedes and a bunch of others-it depends upon how deep the cow is-I really like alot of the Maines-Simms etc-but am not clear on the depth of rib issues-TH Carrier clubby-MAN AMONG BOYS-the shorthorn Xs I saw out of him were really cool:and Shorts without a LOT of the white roan gene just dont seem to do as well with black bulls-AGAIN-jmo Man Among yatta etc looks and breeds like a fraky clubby shorthorn JMO O0

I am certainly no shorthorn expert, but I don't think you are going to get belly draggers consistently with that group you named. I think you'll be very disappointed in most and maybe happy with one if these are what you decide to use.
Of course we haven't seen your cow, only have the pedigree to go by. Along those bloodlines I am going to go with Asset. You might call Jeff Aegerter and see if he knows where you can get some Solution. Last I heard selling was $1700 a unit. But I don't think they are as consistent as Asset. Probably more frame on them. IF she has a perfect front third Proud Jazz might work if the cow is big enough or that white bull Mark mentioned although he is too young to produce semen yet. One suggestion I might ad mo one has mentioned is MAV Charisma. Talk to Stecks. They seem to have some big bodied heifers out of him last year.

Well I have been in the shorthorn deal for nearly 20 yrs now and I can honestly say the 3-4 warrior daughters we had 20 yrs ago were the worst cows we have ever owned. And honestly there really is not anything special about DS daughters...At 13 if she is still getting bred don't screw her up just enjoy her for the yrs you have left with her.
Sit down... figure out what all this invitro crap will cost then figure out what the recipts will cost. then add 50% that dollar amount becasue a 50% success rate is good!......
Now have some fun travel around to some sales... call some breeders and go buy these soggy kickass heifes....

To sjcattle well we must been lucky cause Maria is a damn good cow. I know why people won't post is because of replies like yours! Sorry about your luck, we have damn good cow that was not cheap at all! And has generated a huge profit for us! We don't care about the cost and she will produce just like she always has never missed! Btw she had KABA legend calf (heifer) but would have liked to moderate her a tick and add a touch more depth but was still a nice heifer!

Actually sonny semen does not sex sort well according to bill rasor! We will see if our decision works, solution is a full brother to bloodstone, and we are only going for heifers! And to all the nay Sayers we are not dumb when it comes to cattle, u have your opinions and we have ours! And it's our money and our decision each to their own! And thanks mark and redwine, we really appreciated your response mark! But we thought bloodstone from the beginning of our search for a bull! We do know the cow and have saw many offspring from her! We believe it will work well for us!
