I am looking to make purebred shorthorn steers. Do I go for the old standby's carriers as Double Vision and the like or what new clean bulls are working good? I like Jake's Proud Jazz but I need a little more growth than that since my cows aren't great in the growth department. I was looking at Get Serious and was wondering people's thoughts on him.

Had a couple of get serious calves this spring.  Love them!  Stout, big boned, cool colored, and way thicker than these cows have ever thrown before.

Llike the AOD heifers, have a couple myself, but good luck getting a decent steer.

I think if you have a moderate framed, powerful cow, that he could make some good steers. He might be something to use on those Double Stuff/Vision cows for clubby stuff as well as the Sonny/Trump/Venture type stuff for heifers.

i worked him some when he was a baby back before he sold. i thought he had a lot of potential then he kinda had all the pieces just needed more feed. i talked to the owner a few weeks ago and he showed me a couple pics and i thought he looked really good. in my opinion you should be able to get sellable calves out of him if he puts his look in them with the hair and bone he has.

Thanks for the replies. I have several Salute daughters to breed that are nice but they definitely have some bigger Birthweight genetics in them. That is why I was looking for something a little smaller BW than Ace of Diamonds. I might use AOD on other cows though.

ALM CHILLER-Or-GB DAYBREAK EXPRESS for proven low bw (along with the epds)-and works on the KABA deal
