Had a Vegas x Who Made Who ET heifer born this morning(thank you Cowbody:)..  Question is what are the procedures to register her as a ShorthornPlus?  I've never messed with anything shorthorn before and was just wondering if it is a pain in butt or not..  Her mom doesn't have any papers with any breed.

Just go to the American Shorthorn Association's website and print off a Shorthorn Plus registration form. Since the dam is not registered you will just need to fill out her name and tattoo. It is usually fairly simple to get them registered. Hope this helps!

It asks for the dam's registration # and tatoo.  She has neither... Other than that it is pretty straight-forward from what I see.

Just leave it blank and attach a note to the form when you send it in saying she's unregistered and has no tattoo.

Mom is considered commercial and the heifer will be 50%. But it is good to get her registered. If you breed her shorthorn you can breed up on percentages as long as her off spring is red, white, roan etc. Black can not be higher than 50% in the ASA book.
