I wanted to post these updated photos. I am thoroughly impressed with Limestone Jupiter. We do not creep and this little dude was really small and slid out of a first calf heifer. I know he may not be a world beater but I like his look. His mother is larger framed Dirty Hairy x Chi/Angus. We have not creeped yet and he literally reminds me of a balloon. He has filled out and stouten up amazingly for being a month old. I wish the pictures were better but we had uncooperative group yesterday. The last picture I made him get up cuz he is kind of lazy little guy. Very calm considering his mother was a handful as a show heifer.
I emailed back and forth with the Limestone folks. they were very helpful when I selected him for calving ease. They were pretty honest. Said if you bred for spring calvers they could get a little bigger. But most of their fall and winters were no problem. I know my population of one does not really prove anything. I personally think you can see the Ohlde genetics coming through on this guy.

I've bought a couple of bulls from Limestone this year (through one of their close partners).  One of them is a Jupiter son.  They really like the Jupiter line.

Sometimes its rare to get anything back from a big breeder. But the Limestone folks answered me right away. I appreciated there honesty. It will be interesting to see what the calf does on creep feed.

I've been doing a little research on Jupiter as we have 3 March/April heifers out of him this year. During the first few months we loved the results. However, we've noticed that all 3 calves are showing one consistant problem - their feet toe out. On one of the calves, it involves the front feet, but all three have issues with their rear feet and it is consistantly worse in the right foot.

The 3 cows that they are out of are all related and none of them exhibit any similar problem. The foundation cow in our herd is a Vermilion Payweight/TC Stockman 365 that has perfect feet. She has had 5 calves out of various bulls and the only one that has exhibited this problem is the Jupiter calf. The other two cows are out of her, one is a Traveler 004 and the other is a Marathon/TC Freedom son. Both of them track straight, with the only problem being a little too much set in the Marathon/TC Freedom daughter.

Has anyone else noticed any related problem with Limestone Jupiter? We love all 3 of the heifer calves outside of this problem and are interested in keeping 1 or 2 for growing our herd. Would love to hear any related responses to Jupiter calves.
