River level was at 7 ft yesterday.  Flood stage in Cedar Rapids is 12 ft.  We've been pretty dry in the Cedar Rapids area before this past week and a half.  We are a far cry from the 10 or so inches that spots of Southern Iowa has received.  I think we are at 2-4" for the month before the last couple of days and those 2-4" were very much needed until the past couple of days.

I will never again say that we are wet where I live, even though there is a pile of land that will not get seeded to a crop this year. Compared to what many others have reported, we are not even in the same ball park. We have standing water in some parts of the fields, but we don't have roads washed out and flooding like some other places have. There are a few areas in W Canada that have had some flooding but we are a long ways from that.

We've been missing all the rain here in SE Missouri. It sprinkled a little for about 5 minutes today but it stopped. It's been thundering and the weatherman's been calling for the past week but so far nothing.

Can you even get home Matt? or are you home and can't get out?    I heard that they got 4" this afternoon north of town.  I'm not sure what the amount is here because the guage was really leaning.

You suppose this is coming from all the tears from the crying Nebraska fans because they didn't really want to leave the Big 12?

Yea, I wasn't so sure that I would be able to get home today.  The water was running over the road all over the place and I was in my little gas getter car and not the truck.  I am going to be driving the truck tomorow.  Oh and as far as the Nebraska fans crying, I doubt it.  They would have to have feelings to cry.  ;)

JUST KIDDING NEBRASKA FANS.

It is raining her again tonight. I will never say we are too wet but we sure could use some drying weather soon as I would like to start haying in the next 10 days.
I seeded our big 25 acre oat field on April 23rd and it is barely 6" tall so it would like to see some warm weather and sunshine also.
With a little luck right where we live we could have an amazing hay crop but won't be counting bales until they are tied!!

Wheat harvest in Oklahoma is stalled. Some fields were knocked completly down from the flood waters. The smell is horrible north of OKC. Still standing water, everything is red from the dirt here. Guess we can only set and wait to see how large the skeeters will get! I predict large enough to take small children away. Anyone have any tried and true methods for getting rid of them? (might have been in another post.) But, on the bright side, or at least around here, the garden is going nuts and we won't have to mow for a few more days!

One thing about it, the steers have  been eating good during the rainy spells.  I guess they need to so they can compensate for really hot times when they dont' want to eat so good.

KCK -  Before yesterday afternoon's monsoon hit, they were saying we'd be harvesting by Sunday - given one or two hot sunny days.  Now I'm not sure - I bet the wheat will be ready but who knows if the ground will hold them.    Mosquitos as big as smalll helicopters will be reality here too.  I think there is something you can spray or put into the water retention areas to keep them from hatching but it probably won't get them all.

That is a great report. If you are on facebook, join the Oklahoma Wheat Commission fan page and keep us posted on things in your area, even if it is in another state.
