It was quite a weekend for the crew at RTM this weekend!
Started out Saturday at the Minnesota Junior Livestock Show in Rochester. Had a good day. Tina was having some contractions most of the day but wanted to stay until Caroline was done with showmanship. we planed to have this baby at the Mayo Clinic which is only 10 blocks from the fairgrounds. Got the cattle on the trailer and sent them and the kids and trailer home with our good friend Dr. Dave from Trails End Ranch, headed to SHOPKO for a quick change of clothes for me and then off to the hospital. with contractions three to four minutes apart they observed and told us to walk the halls for an hour and recheck. She had not dilated any more (3cm) so they told us to head home and rest. I reminded them we live 40 miles out and this is the third one but we headed home and got there about 10:30.
To make a long story short, about 3:00 AM I was helping Tina work thru the contractions while she was talking a hot bath. we decide we better get heading back to the hospital. She said she couldn't move. A few minutes later Cora Jean slipped right out into my hands and started crying, in our bathroom, at 3:25 AM. The mother and RN in my wife kicked in and we tied the cord off with a shoe string and called 911 for an ambulance ride back to Rochester.
You should have seen their faces as the Three of us and the EMT's walked into the labor & Delivery floor and all the same nurses and Dr.'s that dismissed us earlier were still on duty!
8lbs 4 oz and 20.5 inches long and being fought over by her sister and brother! we all came home today.
I sure am glad I married a strong level headed women.
