reaaaaaaaaally. does that factor in the amount of subsidy as well as the infrastructure and personnel to manage it?
subsidies only hide costs, defer it, reduce competition, raise costs, increase paperwork, picks winners and losers, gives greater benefits to "minorities".
all these things and others, drives up the cost and drives out competition./// WHAT COMPETITION? We havent been competitive for years-against countries like Argentina-and even Canada-US makes it in volume:and the ability to continue as such-and if the crops stop flowing at predetermined rates to the right orgs. to whom we owe $-Katy bar the door-mayve thats one aspect of the "COMPLICATED" farm bill. Like Canadian Income taxes introduced in 1917 by the wartime government. Imposed as a "temporary" income tax to cover expenses. "Despite the new tax the Canadian government ran up considerable debts during the war and were unable to forego income tax revenue after the war ended. With the election of the Liberal government of Prime Minister William Lyon Mackenzie King, much of the National Policy was dismantled and income tax has remained in place ever since."aj said:"There is nothing so permanent as a temporary government program" Milton Friedman

Even with the appendix-influence in his herd, I'll bet AJ's Shorthorns are purer Shorthorn than most people'sMaines are actually Maine-Anjous. And, Yes, he retains ownership, and has the balls and sense to be tough on his cows. He also has the testicular fortitude to be direct with people, much the same manner as you are. I neither watched Football nor drank any beer yesterday, so don't assume that I'm hung over and pissed-off!knabe said:aj said:Aussie come on out to Eastern Colorado and I will show you how to be ****ing competitive.
With what? Low birth weight high percentage shorthorns with performance in numbers to sell bulls outside your area and even semen and embryos internationally with carcass merit at a premium to CAB cause you retain ownership?
