Walks Alone

Exactly how tall is Walks Alone and how tall do you think his calves will be? What cows would he work best on?

nobody knows yet but he is a very small bull...smaller than walks on water...but bigger boned and thicker than WOW per the owners...I have not seen any of them in person but this is what I have heard...the One and Only could be a very good bull as well...Immortal has been siring some good ones too and he is a full brother to WOW....here is a photo of one of walks alone first calves...

funny how pictures work...in a thread about Walks Alone frame size, I looked at that calf picture and thought "Hey that one looks just about right for a little calf" but Alpha thought it small...that's a cool one though, I'm sure of that

looks like a nice calf to me. we are using walks alone on a couple of our bigger cows. but after the monopoly calves we had this week atleast a few are going to get bred back to monopoly. but walks alone will make a splash im sure. even if he is a little smaller thats ok by me. thats why you keep a few bigger cows around... haha.

ill post some picture of some of the calves that we have and then you may no why i think that calf looks small or better choice of word SHORT. dont get me wrong that looks like a really nice calf but i dont think the club calf industry needs to down size any more, but hey what do i know ... right

Alpha, you are right on. If shorter and clubier is better, why are we meeting so much resistance at the local sale barns? I have seen Walks Alone several times at stud, and each time I am more convinced that he is a commercial cattleman"s worst nightmare. JMHO

So if you seen him in person how tall is he? Whats his frame Score? or how tall in inches is he?

I don"t size cattle by a frame score, and I didn't have a yardstick, but if the Ohlde angus are a 6 frame score, Walks Alone is a low 5s or possibly less. It is not my object to trash the bull. He has huge bone, and can only be called sound. Very thick and massive, breaks a little behind the shoulder, and not much body depth for his small frame. I believe that if show steers remain small and higher cutability type cattle, he will sire some great ones. JMHO, he does have a lot of fans, I'm just not one of them.

I will say this....I have seen him numerous times, was there today in fact.

1) If Walks Alone is used correctly he will be a lot closer to the next Heatwave than Monopoly.

2) If he is too small for a clubby.............. then for a purebred so is the Angus bull "Copyright", and nobody is talking about his lack of size.

3) For the record yes he is small, but name me a "big" clubby bull???

You guys are right about Copyright. He's a good bull to use on heifers but he will downsize a large framed cow very quickly.

Walks Alone is one of the hottest selling clubby bulls out there.  Yet, I still have limited info on him since we are in Texas.  Have any of you seen a good number of calves out of him  to report?

I agree walks alone will have a place mated to the right cow but to say he's closer to taking out hw than mono is rediciolus. mono has sired many champions and new bull prosecpts you can atleast use mono on any cow and have a calf that can be fed out walks alones  have many structure issues witch will limit his ability to use on many types of cows.I like a reliable bull to use and everyone knoes you start from the ground up!

I will have some Walks Alone starting in Sept.  We utrasounded for sex and of course only one is a bull, the others will be heifers.  The cows are big and sound.

I have to completely disagree with bing, how can you say you monopoly works on everything and how can you say walks alone has to be used on certain cows? How can you say walks alone calves end up with structure problems, there aren't even that many out there yet and aren't quit old enough to know what they are going to finish yet. Monopoly maybe selling a good bit of semen, but look how many awesome calf pictures there were of monopoly's last year and i haven't seen that many champions in relationship to them. The monopolys in my opinion are going to be good looking calves but get really plain the older they get. He is not going to be the one to take out HW, although you cant say for sure walks alone will either but I would put my bet on Walks alone or One and Only to get the job done long before monopoly.

Had the oppertunity to walk through J Bar T's calves Sat. evening. He has a very good group of Walks Alone calves on the ground so far. Approx. 6 head on the ground so far. Out of the 6 IMO 4 are very good. Great hair, bone, structure and the right frame. 2 calves would be too big framed and weak topped, but I was impressed over all with the Walks Alone calves and would have to say that IMO they will out power the Monopoly calves in the fall.

also bing you cant use mono on a pb angus bull and expect a great one, too much angus in there to make a great steer. I agree with SHAGGY. Also I guess Shain Boysel has one heck of a Walks Alone Bull calf right now, ill be seeing it here this week
