What are the joys of getting older?

Ok I noticed JIT has this problem too. But today for the second time in a week forgot the mail @ the POST OFFICE.

Sue, I am glad to hear I am not alone ! Another of the joys of getting older is that your definition of a few things changes somewhat. For example, " having a few beers" used to mean a couple 6 packs. Now it means having one beer and maybe part of a second.

It makes me mad when I get up and go into another room and when I get there...I forgot what I was going there for. age 50

Although I can feel I am getting older every year, here is what makes it easier and much more rewarding.

My joys:

I don’t sweat the small stuff near as much.
Kids are out of high school (you still worry about them but one big step out of the way)
Time with friends seems to be more important now
Watching calves graze is somewhat hypnotic, can do it for hours
Sunsets and sunrises seem to get prettier every year
Going fishing is important, catching is not


Downers:

My brain thanks my body can still do the thing it did in its 20 (it can’t)
I wake up with more aches than when I went to bed
I need glasses to type this
Years go by a lot faster than the used to

46 feeling 35 this morning, tomorrow it could be 60

I don’t sweat the small stuff near as much.

When I was very young my mother told me this. I guess I should have listened closer to what she said, as it was year later I found out that I had taken her advice totally the wrong way.
What I  thought she said was " don't sweat the petty stuff."  What she had actually said was " don't pet the sweaty stuff"

Jim,  what a great set of games!  I showed them to me 85 year old father, and he said you missed one... he says that at his senior's apartment complex they sometimes have a rousing game of " see who can make a fist  first". And he also said that Jack Nicholson was right, when he said in the movie... " never trust a fart"

i am in the same boat as you beefy. i have found some positives though
I dont have to sit in a cubicle all day long and analysis walls
never have a hangover past 830(if im actually working)
breathe fresh air everyday
farmers tans are chick magnets
a "country drivers licensce" is better than no drivers licence
god invented the 4 wheeler

things ive learned so far:
cows calve when they arent suppose to
cows like the grass on the wrong side of the fence better
calves are not picky, they will kick anybody close enough
cow manure and fresh cut hays smells as good as any rose
i cant get fired by a cow for poor managemnet

the best part abotu rasie cows:
You see the effort you put into it
more feed and mineral and more work on calves around labor day means more profit
