If you were looking for some Red Angus heifers/cows for breeding stock, where would you go.  Looking for deeper, thicker, easy fleshing, type with good maternals and growth.  Not taller showy type.  Simmilar to Ohlde or SAV type in the black angus world.

I have to agree with the Webers in Lake Benton, MN.  They are also very honest and upright people that I believe would treat you right.  Also Minten Family Red Angus, New York Mills, MN (Steve and Janet Minten).  They had three children show Red Angus in 4-H and now have a nephew that shows with me but their animals are not the show type but definately performance based.  They also sell Red Angus Bulls.  They are also a very honest and good family.  Hope this helps!!  ;D

You should checkout Northline Angus from Ardrossan, Canada. Had the National Champ bull (Northline True Blood 341T) from Denver last year. Great uddered, efficient cattle with show appeal to burn. Probably the best bull IMO in the breed is Northline Rev 34R. I haven't seen a bull that will breed eighty head naturally and gain weight like crazy on grass. They actually had to cut 34R off feed and ration water on show days to not fill him to much.

Six Mile in Canada.  Without a doubt good people, good cattle.
Here in the US, I would recommend you look at past "winners" from programs and see what their future held (if you can FIND their future)!

Most of the red angus would fall into your description, haven't seen too many "leggy" RA winning in the show ring.

DITTO, DITTO, DITTO!!  Great producers :)
One of the top 5, if not the oldest RA herd in Canada.  These cattle are extremely effecient.  IMO they are the perfect representation of the breed.
Six Mile did'nt start showing until a few years ago, but won majors right out of the gate.  They show breeding cattle, not the other way around!!

My wife is just finishing the Sooline Red Angus Dispersal sale catalog. This dispersal will be held October 15th at Midale, Saskatchewan. This will be one of the best sets of Red Angus cattle offered in a long time. The sale catalog is over 100 pages and every page has some great cattle. The sale catalog will be online in a few days at www.soolinecattle.ca. Check it out and I think you will be impressed!  The sale would have been even bigger however a large ranch in the US purchased all the bull calves( well over 100 head).

I drive by their pastures often, and usually find myself almost in the ditch after looking too long at a great set of cows and not watching the road.

Hate to hear about the Sooline. That brings me to the question, Why? They have good cattle from all I can gather. Maybe health reasons? Or something out of their control. Hate to see any program sell out.

As far as Red Angus in Nebraska?? How about Cross Diamond or Hueftle Cattle or Piepers or Schulers? IMO there are lots of RA in the cornhusker state. Gill's has about the best set of bulls and cows I have found. They are not far. Road Warrior must be busy, he would know better than anybody I'm thinking. Croisant's in Colorado are the real deal as well. Six Mile is very interesting IMO as well as Brylor. Lots of options. I got a Buffalo Creek cow that is about as easy keeping as I have.

From what Justin and Roger have said it sounds like they are just getting to big and had to make some decisions about where the farm is going to go. They will still have all of their black angus, so well over 200 cows.

Being from the left coast I don't get to see many midwest cattle up close and personal but for my money Lorenzens and Buffalo Creek have about as good a set of reds as anyone.
