I am coming a little late here, but I agree 100% with Vegas, we flushed to him and ended up with 5 heifers that we kept 4 as replacements, they are thick, hairy, zipper fronted and ours made great cows , the down side to him is he is th, BWs ours were 90-110, and he is on the smaller frame size.
I like Gus, we haven't had any here, but I don't think they come much better than Stumpy and he believes in the bull and he has been out long enough to be proven.
There are alot of Sin City fans, I guess I just don't get it or we didn't breed him right, but we haven't had a Sin City here that was worth a darn, they have all be framy leggy underproductive and all ended up in the sale barn.

Finally someone agrees with me about Sin City!  We've not had a bit of luck with him.  Wasn't that big time Blue Roan heifer at Trausch's last year a Vegas?

TM Gus will prove to be twice the bull of Sin City or Vegas.Ask Bill Hardcastle of Washington,Okla. how many counterfeit Vegas calves he sent to the stockyards out of good cows. There are exceptions, you will get some good calves out of him,but rarely from the same cow. I would risk him over Sin City anytme. Notorious is in the same boat, every once in a while a great one. There are several shorties that outperform any of those three. Words 4w Casper comes to mind, still being used by those who know.Besides the afore mentioned breeders that are promoting the Shorthorn BUDDY LOVE,add Dean Kepharts name to the list. He told me that he wasn't going to get in on him,but after studing his pedigree, and analyzing the bull, he thought his potential was the best of any shorthorn he had seen since Double Vision. Time will tell.

I agree with you 100%. We had two Sin City bull calves a couple of years ago. One went to a feedlot, the other one shown a couple of times. He did ok, middle of the pack. Way too much frame on them. We won't use Sin City again.

so over all what im getting is that Gus is the bull to go with he is more consistant with the quality of his calves, and Vegas Sin City and Notorious will once in a while throw a good one

If you want to use a WHITE Shorthorn Bull,if you have some stout looking cows,ie; Double Vision ,Double Stuff, Warhorse,Steermaker,Sonny,Ace of Diamonds, Eskimo Joe, any of these kind of daughters, and some others, use GUS o ruse the roan bull Ace of Diamonds.[He might be called a Red and White]. or one of Olsons bull[sp member] or the Cornell bulls, also sp members. We personally are going to try "Buddy Love" the unproven powerhouse Sonny son that DJS Shorthorns bred and sold to Wendell Dunn and Kephart.Unproven or not he is too good not to try.He also has a TH and PHA clean flush mate brother that is somewhat of a roan, that is awesome. If none of these suggestions trips your trigger then use IVY LEAGUE,another beautiful roan that is owned by yet another sp member.

Here is a Gus Heifer that we are quite fond of around here. Her mother is our JB Bonnie Princess cow who produced the Deadwood heifer we sold in the NAILE sale last year. The Gus calves do come easy, we bred heifers to him for the third year this spring (about 18 of them) and I don't hate myself enough to cause those kind of calving troubles :). The calves aren't the kind that you will want to sell when thy are 2 weeks old. They are later bloomers who come into their own later (usually by 90 days old you have a good idea). We had great semen sales this spring from all differen't kinds of breeders. From the big time show breeders to small farms, commercial and seedstock producers. The bull is currently on lease in N. Dakota with Jungles, if you are close to there call them, I amsure they would be happy to show you around and go see the bull. If you have any questions please contact me and I will be happy to help.

Definitely have to give a plug for Gus. He lives up to his billing for sure, can move, and will work on a lot of cattle IMHO.

Not this time - just closed on my late Grandmother's house and have a lot going on with remodeling, etc. Just moving about 300 yards down the road but a lot to do before we move.

Dang Chad I was hoping to see you there. It sure sounds like you are doing something special though. I wish my Grand parents house wasn't in Indiana or I would have tried to something with it. Does anyone know if Doc is coming?

Stumpy, I'm going to try my best. Don't know for sure tho. We've got a couple of jobs going at work & right now that takes precedent( I've got to support my habit). ;D When I get my stimulus check , I won't have to worry about that anymore.
