The Lowderman Family does raise Herefords, but Cody was a member of the National Champion Livestock Judging Team at MSU and does a fine job evaluating cattle.

I asked my Livestock Judging Coach about this last year. He said it was originally started by the the feedlot. Cattle develop fat from front to year, so the bigger the brisket the more fat it will take to fill up. So it takes extra to fill the brisket before it begins to put fat over the ribs...

Turn them out on pasture and hay in the winter. I don't see how I'd make any money if I had to supplement mature cows with grain throughout the year.

And when I say Pedigree I don't mean that they must have this many National Champions, x number of dams of distinction, etc etc. I mean the cattle in their pedigree have to be acceptable. There are some cows out there that we should never be allowed to keep bulls out of.

I think that is more so personal preference. For me, they must pass certain creteria at different stages of their growth. At birth for instance, needs to be slight assit out of a heifer and moderate BW. Pre weaning phenotype is crucial, however, most calves will go through an awkward stage...

My opinion is that if you have to think about it, then it needs cut.

In that first picture I think the only word to describe him is cool! Really a nice one tony, you should do well with him no matter where you take him.

Nice, you'll probably be wanting to hang on to her right? I saw T-Bone this past fall, impressive looking bull but also saw many of his calves that were good too. Who are you planning or did breed her to?

Hey what are you judging again? The bull's phenotype alone? His progeny, show winnings, etc? Or just overall?
