i guess im confused what it is your looking for...a pedigree that has the same herd prefix top and bottom all the way back???   so, basically you would have to find a person/family who orginally registered the first shorthorns, and continued breeding, registering, on a true closed herd basis...

what are you wanting to do with the plus calves?  if you are wanting to show them, sell them for show, you might want to keep in mind, that alot of shows (especially the majors i believe, what i was told) require the animal be at least 50%...so if your cows are already pluses, you might have to...

im confused

i disagree.  i think they have 20/20 vision!  most used sire in the breed. ability to haul 50+ head to denver and put on a successful sale. etc. etc. etc.  having true vision is also realizing that there are other lines in the breed besides your own that can really click with what you are doing...
