IS it worth raising these club calves !!!!!

The worst is guys still call wanting cattle at prices that there hasn't been in 5 years. I had a guy call me not wanting to spend more than $2500 for his next herd bull. I have one left and he is priced at $4000 the guy told me that was outrageous. I told him look at what fat cattle are bringing...

    Missouri Beef Expo

I have never heard of Missouri having a beef expo like other states. The Columbia AGR show has turned into having displays and such over the past few years tho.

    online sale lookers

Getting calves with a trader isn't all bad most will say who bred the calf and its free advertisement. If they buy one from your program from a trader they might want to come see more or buy direct from you the next year.

    Donkeys for halter breaking

I used one this summer to break an 8 and 10 month old bulls. I have seen 1200 lbs steers tied to one as well. My friends have a darn good one that a few hours on her make a world of difference.

    Weaver vs Sullivan's

We switched to Show stopper by Vittetoe because of location but since then I have decided I really like the Wever products. I have nothing against Sullivans and still use some things from them.

    Lame cattle

We have a set of leased roping steers that part of them have developed a weird lameness. I thought at first it was foot rot and we treated the few that were lame for that. Its 4 days later and no improvement. These cattle are suppose to go back in a couple weeks. I had a guy wonder if they had...

Had a friend last weekend wean all of his bull calves born in the spring. He had a couple March bulls riding and he didn't want to take any chances. Bull Marketing

I have 3 hereford bulls that I think are better than average. I am trying to sell them and having absolutely zero luck. I do not have them priced outrageous either. I have pictures and videos. I have listed them in the classifieds on here, craigslist, and some facebook groups. I know fall isn't...

Show calf housing during the winter

They can be outside in the snow. Even in the winter we bring them in and work with them and it sounds like your barn will be just fine for that. They need plenty of room for excersise and to play. Just if you wash them make sure they are dry before kicking out.

where do you stay when showing at KC Royal?

We stay cheap like Super 8 or motel 6. We have always stayed in Independence. Only a 20 min drive and many options for food in that area.

    Steer Hair Growth

Agreed! Genetics play a huge role I have decided. I have a friend that got in a yearling bred heifer yesterday and has 3-4 inches of hair all over her body and legs. She hasn't been washed since May.

    Dehorning Question

For show calves surgical is the way to go. Around here $40 will have them looking polled. Many people and vets do it and depending on your location I'm sure someone can point you in the right way.

    Another Feed Program Question...

Sure Champ is worth the money. Hopefully your steer is growing on Fitters Edge I had issues with mine not doing well on that feed. Look into AAOK feed ration on here. It is one of the most economical rations that can do the most good for you and be tweaked for where in the country you live.

    New shower/calf

It sounds like the heifer has the situation figured out. She knows what she can get away with and with who. Have you been tying her up? I had a heifer like this a few years ago. She got away in the yard one day and ran for 5 miles til she found other cows. Once she got into a routine tho and...
