CC Bull whose daughters have nice udders

I don't know if this is in response to my post, but full flush is a TH negative bull. My point is that the TH carrier bulls (ala heatwave) work well on full flush daughters. Why wouldn't full flush work well on a heat wave daughter?

Online Auctions - "The Fine Print"

There was an online auction I was bidding on recently. I had the high bid, and my max bid was a little ways off (bid was at 70, or so, and my max bid was 90, or so). There was a couple of hours left. I refreshed and the bid went immediately to $150. I stopped bidding. Did I bid against the...

CC Bull whose daughters have nice udders

As long as you have a reason. I think the idea of full flush is a good one. We know those little TH bulls work well on full flush females. The opposite might be true, and you will pick up some maternal traits along the way.

CC Bull whose daughters have nice udders

Not trying to be mean spirited here, but why would you flush that female? Is there something I am missing about her genetic package? I consider udders, feet and legs, structure, docility, and fleshing ease to be pass/fail traits. If they can't pass there, then I wouldn't spend the money to...

Slick Shearing cattle before they go to pasture??

We don't, but if I were to consider it, I wouldn't shear the whole animal. I would get some flat heads and run two or three blade widths down from the top of the animal to behind front leg on both sides, then the same pattern on back of the rump. I read that there are multiple sweat glands in...

    Sugar Ray

Then take a leak on it.... Seriously, I could have been seriously injured when I was 13 or 14 by a Sugar Ray calf. He took off and I didn't let go, he rammed me into a gate and it cracked a rib. I remember gladly taking that rip to town.

    help on cattle sale

I was partially joking, partially not. You are right...I know a lot of folks who know UCC law better than I ever care to. But, the OP said he had an attorney. He shouldn't be talking about this with anyone but his lawyer.

Why do that when you can get all the great legal advice you ever wanted on a show steer forum???

Replacements Heifers from these Angus cows

The AAA allows registration of carrier females, but they must be tested. Bulls with carriers in the pedigree have to be tested clean, or else they are not eligible for registration. When AM and NH first came on the scene, the AAA had a rule that gave a sunset for registration of potential...

For those that feed round bales in this weather

It could be that they need more dry matter during this snap of cold weather that we have had. We feed in rings. Old ones that look like crap. I am too cheap to buy the fancy cone feeders, although I think they do save some hay. 1300 pound cows tear up the ground when they eat around a ring. That...

Replacements Heifers from these Angus cows

NH is believed to have started with GAR Precision 1680, the daddy of FD. Not being technical, but wanted to make sure that all 1680 descendants should be tested for AM and NH.

    What's the most expensive semen?

Basin Rainmaker 654x or Traveler 124 GDAR. They run between $1,500 and $2,000 per unit, if you can find it. Some of the Wye plantation bulls will command a high dollar, but I am not a big fan of those genetics. Some of the bucking bull semen is tremendously high, also.

    Throwing Red Angus an Anchor

If you are talking AI certificates, yes, call Tim Ohlde. AI certs are a source of much debate amongst the Angus breed. But, they are a reality right now. I think Anchor is $50 for an AI cert right now.

    Anyone like craft beer?

St. Arnold's brewery in Houston. Lawnmower and their brown ale are my favorite, but they are all good, including the root beer.

What is usual charge for clipping a hog in Texas

I would throw a hot meal in there, too. You get that kid at your dinner table, then you have a cow shot giver for life. We have a very successful former hand that takes vacation from his job to come and help us put in CIDR's. We still pay him by the hour and a hot meal, but I suspect it is the...

    black angus bull question

The last thing I would worry about with Cedar Ridge is soundness. They won't have the grow that you can get with other lines, but they are maternal to the core. I would also look at EXT, 1483, or the traverer lines (044, 6807, etc). Those are good old school, maternal lines. A bull that doesn't...

    biopryn pregnancy test

I love it. We use SEK genetics and we are very happy with their service. We pull blood at weaning time and we send it in. We only calve in the Spring. We turn the bull out and clean up any cows that didn't breed, and then on March 15 or so, we send all cows that haven't calved to a special cow...

    Will she compete?

One thing we all agree upon is that she is a nice critter. You have done a good job with her. Good luck with her the rest of the way and have fun! One thing I absolutely agree with AAOK on is that the more you bond with that animal on the road, the better your experience will be. I probably am...

    Will she compete?

Nice heifer. I would be more worried about commingling your heifer with a bunch of cattle and getting her sick. It will be hard for a hereford to get around a x-bred heifer, and if you can't win it, I would keep her home, get her bred, and get her ready for your junior nationals. She is a pretty...

    New county fair steer, opinions?

Nice calf. Monopoly x whiskey is a proven cross. When is your final show and what does he weigh right now? I would look at doing a winter show to see where you stack up and then figure out your jackpots from there. Nice critter.
