    BCS what?

You conveniently left out the fact that West Virginia lost that game by nearly four touchdowns.  LSU also caused three turnovers against Arkansas.  That's what happens to hurry up spread offenses when they face teams with secondary’s that include Heisman candidates and defensive lines that can...

    BCS what?

Arkansas and OSU are about the most similar teams I can think of in terms of style of play. Arkansas was dominated by both of the teams playing last night.

feeder prices are still up !!

350-400 lb heifers were netting just about the same down here last week at $175/cwt.  Everyone thought it would cause a run on the auction barn this week but they're still having trouble getting a good run.  I can't imagine having a field of oats/rye grass with no stocker calves right now...

    HOW BOUT THEM BRONCOS?

Who is bashing Tebow? To put it into show steer terms, he's a an otherwise great steer that's starting to break behind his shoulders and pops his pasterns when he walks. Does that matter?  No, not really if you are looking at the short term and ignore the 'expert opinion' about what they are...

    HOW BOUT THEM BRONCOS?

I like the guy and can admit that his throwing motion is just flat out terrible.  You don't have to be a hall of fame QB to realize that dropping the ball down to your knee to wind up isn't the proper throwing motion for a reason.

CAN YOU SELL A INTEREST IN A BULL THAT IS DEAD?

A large portion of the time the semen that's available from the distributors is still technically owned by the bull owner and sold on a sort of commission basis.  In those cases, most of the semen on the 'open market' would still be property of the owner and could be sold to somebody else.

    Aborted fetus pics

That looks a LOT more like what a 5 month old pregnancy would feel like while palpating than 7.

    Smoke Color Question

Smoke is an incomplete dominance of a dilution gene. When it's homozygous, you get the white color of PB Charolais cattle. When it's heterozygous, you get the a diluted black/red which is what we all call smoke or light red. Breeding to a smoke bull will only give you a 50/50 shot of getting...

    How to AI?

You could breed in a trim chute with a calm female (I’ve done it with a customer’s show heifer) but a squeeze chute would generally be considered to be a requirement for AI. Your main problem isn't going to be anything to do with the cattle.  It's hard enough to get everything organized...

Cattle people are an optimistic bunch!!

Chandler, if that was directed at me, I agree those big money commercial cows from the midwest won't become popular in Texas.  I would differ with you though in that I think there's going to be demand for the lower quality females from domestic sources before the Mexican trash.

    Toilet in Western Australia N/C

That's pretty much exactly what I pictured in my head every time I sat on the toilet when I was about six years old. If I had known that it actually happens I likely would have died from constipation.

    Reusing CIDRs Question

I'm starting to think that's a 'rural' legend, I've heard it several times over the past few years.

    calving cameras question

You are going to have a lot of trouble finding something that will work in such a remote location without internet access for anything resembling a reasonable price.  I'd go so far as to say it will be impossible. Internet access is the key to keeping it affordable.  If you have it at the barn...

Problem with Club Calf Industry...thoughts please

That makes more sense.  Livestock judging classes aren't put together to get an accurate cross section of cattle.  They're put together to give you choices to make and stuff to give reasons about.

Problem with Club Calf Industry...thoughts please

They do look for that.  At the risk of getting personal, if you are claiming that today's major show judges aren't emphasizing balance, soundness, and movement I'm going to have to question whether you've actually been to or watched many big time steer shows in the past few years.  Between...

Problem with Club Calf Industry...thoughts please

If you aren’t just using hyperbole to make a point, I’d have to question your definition of structurally sound.  If you are expecting fat steers to move around like BCS 5 cows in the pasture you are judging an apple by the standards of an orange.  It may have been different in the past but on...

    BC4 Blue Ice 0012 bull ??

If blue roan is the priority and the SimAngus heifer is black, go with a white Shorthorn bull.  That way you'd be guaranteed a blue roan as opposed to a 50/50 shot with an actual blue roan bull.
