Oh rw, you are no fun!!

To my "references" you know who I am refering and will not name (and of course the bull).  Those "type" are in every breed and yet, people line up at their door, some with extra bottles of lube because the last time they did business with "wonderful breeder" wasn't so pleasant!!!!

Those type are in every breed and I am sure that each of us feel that we "do no wrong". But when the tables are turned, well, it just isn't nearly as easy to justify!!

My words of wisdom: Most of the highly promoted bulls are no better, nor no worse than the bulls standing in pastures....the only difference is stuff, fluff, and promotion, promotion, promotion.

Is there anything wrong with promotion as long as it is done honestly?  Personally, I think it is one of the most important things you can do.

How does the oil deal work?Is it injected under the the hide or in the muscle. Is it like vegetable oil or what? I assume it is illegal in shows but not in sales or display pens.

I’m coming in a little late here so not going in-depth, just wanted to state my thoughts, I didn’t see the former post so not really sure where that one went, but I can guess.  I can tell you in defense of the no video thing, Brad had a taped segment on his web site a couple of years ago how important a single picture (video) can be because if it’s not perfect we at home instantly pick it apart, so yes, I have to agree, we did it to ourselves, no bull out there is perfect and if I am the bull owner I don’t want mine shown off in a video that may not be the most flattering.

Let me start by stating, I love Denver, I love clubby bull viewing weekend, I love the hype and the hooplah and all of the BS that goes into it.  Having said that, will I use any of the new bulls this year, no, did I use any of the new bulls last year, no, will I use any of the new bulls next year, again no.  There was a time when we jumped on every new fad out and some worked some didn’t then we started breeding for what worked on our cows with bulls that had proven themselves with calves that were winning, do we hit a home run every time, no, but we don’t have the crippled mess some end up with either.

Are there crooks in the clubby business, you bet, welcome to the business world, there are crooks in the purebred business, construction, investment banking, insurance and every other type of business, however I have to believe that for ever crook in the clubby world there are a thousand good guys that are just looking to produce a good product for a good kid, I think that is where our focus needs to be.

Jill is right there are crooks in everyline of bussiness usually they dont stick around long they are fly by nights and will be dismissed and get the reputation they deserve there are people out there that the clubby or breeding stock people have basically black balled because they have given off a bad wrap for the industry doing things that are unethical. To add to that though there are going to be people cheating any time there is competition in a lot of these things it is the one who cheats most and does not get caughts wins then throw a few politics in there and you can then understand the show world. The cheating happens I iek to think we are above that and show are animals to the best of there ability without falsifing them but not everybody sees or does it that way.
