I wasnt there to see him toe out, but from the different pics I see i really like Generall lee. Seems super soft in his design and a good but off power for a half blood maine, and  i find the pedigree stellar for mu operation and goals. like I said I wasnt there to see him in person though. I am anxious to see his video

Exactly, and yes all judges should.  When it comes to keeping heifers for breeding pieces it is crucial to sustaining quality for the future. Judges today (for the most part) will judge in soundness first, and many see correct foot structure as soundness, even when not in motion and in stride.

Exactly, and yes all judges should.  When it comes to keeping heifers for breeding pieces it is crucial to sustaining quality for the future. Judges today (for the most part) will judge in soundness first, and many see correct foot structure as soundness, even when not in motion and in stride.

I think judges today sometimes go with cattle that are "aesthetically sound" and not necessarily structurally sound. For instance, it's prettier for an animal to walk like he has a five gallon bucket between his back legs and for him to really set his back foot down to the point where he looks a little straight. It just "looks" better standing there. You even fit the legs so it looks straighter at the hock.  But an animal that has a little set to the hock is far better equipped to handle a long life of walking distances. And I have heard people say that it's muscle that keeps the legs out on all four corners when they walk. That's not true. Some of the thickest steers you will ever see get their feet up under them and walk as if they are narrow based. Ever seen an old commercial cow go down because she walks with her back legs too close together? Of course not. It just looks better.

But the thing that many of you people keep talking about and some judges really screw up is the front feet turning out. There is a natural turn out in the front feet to an animal that is made like it should be. I am not talking about feet that point east and west or that turn out because of an open shoulder. But you put your feet  perfectly straight ahead and walk for a mile and see how sound you feel. There is a difference in showring soundness and actual structural soundness. Once in a while I hear someone like Brandon Callis for instance say while giving reasons that this may actually get to the point of unsoundness if it continues.

Pretty sure with hes breeding he would be THF/PHAF. I really like him!

he should be TH free but the irish whiskey sire makes him 50% chance of  being PHA carrier. i really like him also.

I'm inclined to agree with that statement, personally Ill never breed to a PHA carrier, something about risking getting a calf like that just turns my stomach...

I have noticed that many people like to bash PHA in one hand and praise TH in the other. To me they are both to be monitored, not feared. We don't keep females out of anything clubby or Maine influenced, they just don't work here. The last clubby female we kept we ate. As per the bull Maternal Perfection, I like him and think he could work well to make show heifers and perhaps the occasional steer.

I don't care about PHAC because the top clubby bulls are not PHAC. Breed around PHA but thts just my situation.

Personally, I would rather have a PHA carrier cow than a TH for the reasons of A) When your cow is TH Free, your breeding options are unlimited when there arent too many bulls out there that are th free that will throw enough hair and power for a SHOW CALF. I am not talking for seedstock or the middle man. B) I have found that all my TH free cows milk rings around my Carrier cows. and as far as Maternal Perfection, I feel that his cross of Irish Whiskey x Imprint is just that in the clubby world. Maternal Perfection. Most Whiskey cows are gold! I said most. I could care less if a cow is a PHA carrier because very few bulls are th and pha carriers. usually they are free of one. thats just my opinion. I will welcome whiskey genetics into my herd with open arms

Given the option, I'd rather steer clear of all carriers...  With that said, after testing came about, we had used several carrier bulls in the past-- and now I'm sure we have some cows, I know we have some, but I'm sure there are more unknowns in there.  From now on, owning a bull, and using noncarriers is a must on anything  unknown, which is a majority...

You are correct about that not being the same bull. Wade did buy the #2 Whiskey sired bull & he had the same back white feet, but no white on his head. My bad, sorry about that. I took my post down for all of you that wonder what DiamondCattleCo. is talking about.

I find it interesting that some certain bull promoters didn't want there bulls videoed a cople of years ago,and now all of there bulls are being videoed!
