We had some mostly-white SH heifers last year that we just couldn't get clean & some really helpful Hereford folks at Tri-State told us to mix Sullivan's Bright Lights with joy dish soap - it really did the trick.

EXACTLY!  We fought the hide color bias for years in the Red Angus due to the propaganda put out by the Blacks and before Reds became 'popular'.  In our experience, the Shorts have been a bit harder to maintain than the Reds but the result on the plate has not been that much different.  And yes...

This works.  Had a calf a while back the same way, used followed Red's instructions & cleared it right up.

We had a steer like that last year - always "on alert" & wary of strangers.  Read on SP about giving 100mg Melatonin daily & tried it - really made a difference for us.  He was still very alert but didn't go postal all the time.

We've never had any luck with Micotil.  Long time ago our vet advised us to give Baytril (single dose) along with 2cc of Dex & 1 cc of Banamine - has saved quite a few calves for us.

Gee, one could ask the same question of the Red Angus Association...they've had some really sorry execs in the past.
