Take the class! It's worth it. I actually went to two, an ABS and a Select Sires one. I used to work as a beef technician for a university so I had to be very good. Now I get to use those techniques on my own cattle. Also, if you are a college or high school student, ask about a discount.

Bred cows around here are bringing about $1,100 to $1,300 bred NS with a calf at the side. Bred heifers are bringing $1,800 AI bred and $1,600 NS bred IF they are out of proven calving ease bulls. Probably a lot less if they are not bred to something else.

I've seen people with aluminum grooming chutes wrap the head catching part with vet wrap to keep the aluminum from rubbing off on their cattle.

You can show animals that were bottle fed as calves. If you do it right you can't tell the difference between them and the ones that were raised on their mama.

I've seen a lot of really good calves out of the Bismark bull. The new herd bull at the farm I work at is out of Bismark and he is gorgeous.
