    Who Uses Satellite Internet???

If you use a local company I would recommend talking to some of their customers.  My parents have a terrible time with their provider, while my sister who only lives two miles away has no trouble at all with a different provider.

For us oldster's- What were you like in high school?

Great post Red!!  Brings back a lot of memories reading about the good ole' days.   My favorite part is hearing about every one's first car... man there were some great cars back in the day!!!  My first "car" was a 70 ford pu.  Remember when we all had curtains in the back windows of our...

    Charolais cows

I will try to get pictures this weekend IF the snow doesn't get too deep, and a complete list of the breeding and what they are breed to.  They are bred to purebred charolais bulls this go'round, but I think you could sure go clubby on them and do great.  These are not the cull cows, but cows...

    Charolais cows

I have a group of 11 bred registered charolais cows for sale.  The only reason they are for sale is because we lost the lease on one of our pastures.  The oldest cow is 7 and the youngest are 3.  Most are AI bred and will start calving in Feb.  I'd sure like to find a good home for these ladies...

    Favorite Holiday food or meal

justamom.... would you mind sharing your recipe for spicy gizzards?  I love gizzards, but I guess I've never thought outside the box when cooking them.  Now I'm thinking sweet and sour gizzards, teriyaki gizzards, lemon pepper gizzards.....  move over buffalo wild wings!  :)

    showmanship contests

Sometimes I think judges don't realize what winning a showmanship class means to a kid.  It is a SHOWMANSHIP contest and the BEST showman should win, period.  If a kid has won every class they've ever walked into, and they are also the best showman, then give credit where credit is due and give...

    showmanship contests

Great comments everyone.  I was a little suprised by itk's "no name no fame" concept.  When my kids first started showing we named all the calves, but by the time number 3 was about done,  there were several that went nameless.  Usually we got to know the calves before we named them, the steer...

    Show ring hand shakes

Great topic!  I used to think it was a great idea to shake the judges hand, but that was back when maybe the top two in a class and the champions would do it.  From there it snowballed into every exhibitor in the class doing it and I think that gets to be a huge distraction.  It's hard to keep...

    showmanship contests

All good stuff for the kids to know, but I'd even like to see it limited to specific questions a judge might ask them in their actual show classes.  For example if the kids is leading a steer the kids should know how much he weighs, that's information a judge might ask while judging a class.  I...

    showmanship contests

I got such great responses with the fitting thread that I thought I'd give this subject a try.  Just want to find out everybody's opinion on asking questions in showmanship classes.  It's sorta my pet peeve that kids have to be prepared for a quiz bowl to compete in showmanship.  I'm not...

Fitters, steer jocks and kids OH MY!

TJ...  You refer to showmanship/fitting classes in your posts, is it called a showmanship/fitting class, or is there a showmanship competition and a fitting competition?  Just curious, they are two seperate things here.

Fitters, steer jocks and kids OH MY!

There are some really great points being made here!  I think the halter breaking issue is a valid point.  Surely you wouldn't expect a 9 yo to do all the halter breaking themselves, although I know some really tough little buggers that could get'r done if the calf was small enough.  Reality is...

Fitters, steer jocks and kids OH MY!

WHO's the new picture of, what bull? OH Breeder....  That's just a pic of our old herd bull.  He's no longer with us and I sure miss him... raised alot of good calves out of the old boy.  Thank goodness we still have lots of daughters!

Fitters, steer jocks and kids OH MY!

I saw several posts that this would have fit under, but I figured it would stir up enough discussion to deserve a place of it's own.  I've noticed lots of people on here have very low opinions of steer jocks, and I realize that's a whole other discussion.  What I'd like to hear from everyone...
