My mother couldn't speak a word of English when she started first grade, (Czech).

On my Paternal side, I have the powder horn on display that was used in both the Revolutionary, and Civil Wars.

Had one too many brain cells to make bull riding a carear.

The average generations change is 45 years. (I am 45 years older than my only child). My Great Grandfather was a Civil War Vet.

my great great grandfather was a general in the Civil War( union side). his name was J Warren Keifer. he also was speaker of the house under President Chester Arthur.

My great-great-great-grandpa was in the Civil War, his name was John Archer. He won the Congressional Medal of Honor.

My grandpa played QB at the U of Illinois, and was also in WWII. He got shot up and sent home, and they sent a signed Death Certificate with him on the boat.  He got home and farmed and had three more kids (including my dad).

My life hasn't been quite as epic yet, but my heart was stopped for four hours once  ;), and I was dumb enough to show cattle two months later.

I grew up and attended a small school in my home town. There were 32 in my grade 8 graduating class and only 6 left in my grade 12 graduating class of which I was the only boy. I played in all sports in school as did everyone else as we needed every body possible to make up teams. I played baseball, hockey and football. Being Canadian, we got skates before we got sneakers, and hockey was a big part of my life when I was young. In grade 12 , I made it to the Provincial Championships running the mile, and had only ran it about 4 times previous to getting to this level. Anyone who knows me now, is probably rolling on the floor as they probably think I would have trouble running around the house .,..... and they would be very close to being right.

In High school I was voted " the first one in the school to get married" but I fooled them all and never got married until 5 years ago.I also am some place between right and left handed. I write with my right hand but shoot a puck left handed and kick a ball equally good ( or equally bad) with either foot. Same thing when hammering nails.. I can miss the nail equally well with either hand.

In school my poorest subjects were writing and history. Now my best interests are in writing and history. I find I can write my thoughts much better than I can speak them, and up until recently I thought it was just me. I heard a discussion recently about this and there is actually a name for this( which I forget right now) and when they described people who have this so called syndrome, they described me to a T.I really did not realize how much I enjoyed writing until I started publishing the Shorthorn breed magazine in Canada. I oftentimes sit down to write an editorial, without a solitary idea what I will write about, and once the first sentence is done, a few pages have flown out of my mind onto the paper... which probably explains some of my posts on here.

I am very very technologically challenged. In high school only the girls were allowed to take typing. Our Principal said that a boy would never need to type anything. How I wish he was still alive so I could have a chat with him. I type with two fingers and most everyone who sees me laughs.

My Freshman year in college, I set a goal of dating 100 different girls.  In October of my Senior year, my best friend introduced me to a girl he had just started dating.  Two weeks later, I asked her out on a date (with permission from my best friend).  In January we were engaged, and married in July; she was #96  That was 35 years ago.  We have 2 daughters, and now 2 grand daughters.  I claim the four of them to make my 100.

My great great great grandfather was Robert E. Lee, which was George Washington's great grand son by marriage.  I bought my girlfriend Andie's 2 speeds for Christmas (she asked for them).  Was named the 2nd most employable high school student in the state of Kansas at the State SkillsUSA-VICA conference my senior year.  Had a full ride theater scholarship my freshman year of college but have never acted.  Have spent almost 7 years of my life going to college and I am graduating this may.

Both sides of my family immigrated from Europe. My grandparents spoke very little English. My grandpa on my father's side had a wagon and a blind horse that he sold goods from during the depression. All my grandparents died of old age before I was born. My dad was the youngest of 9 and my mom youngest of 7. My dad was in the Tenth Mountain Division stationed in Italy during WWII.

Showing beef and hogs was my life as a teenager and I would love to still be doing it but it just isn't possible right now.

Although I am my little brothers biggest critic I am also his biggest fan and you will not find anyone prouder of him after a show.  I was an absolute perfectionist when it comes to my livestock, which drives my brother crazy, but at the end of the day he appreciates the extra comments and points he gets with the judge!

Last spring/summer was the hardest time I have ever had with my cattle, losing my best heifer to hardware and my best old cow to old age and the bull got her down.  I thought for sure that it was a sign that I should get out of the cattle; however, my dad wouldn't let me and I now have a fall pair and a heifer due to calve this month. All healthy and doing well!

I'm a sophomore at NCSU, majoring in Animal Science and Ag Business Management, with plans to add Poultry Science as my 3rd major. I help manage a commercial cow/calf operation at home. Last year my family and I sold and delivered 14,000 square bales of hay in 3 months. I've got one brother who has down syndrome, most proud moment of showing for me was when he won Grand Champion market hog at our county fair. I love clipping and fitting and I guess I can do it pretty well.
I work for the state doing ag research when I'm out of school, and then I am a volunteer firefighter both at home and for Wake County here at school.
I'm related to Johnny Appleseed if anyone knows who that is.

I was born on Leap Year so I am ... really really young!
I was right handed for the first 27 years of my life.  Now I'm a lefty.
I fell in love with my current husband the first time I saw him.  I was nine.
My eyes are about three different colors which my mother tried to convince me was due to spitting grasshoppers.
My son is almost a full foot taller than either my husband or myself.  His shoes are nine sizes larger than mine.  He's really ours...ralgro worked.
My family loves music and I think it's because I used to sing to them all the time...as babies.  I sing all the time when I am not around people. Never enter my barn unannounced! That's how I know my dog loves me.
Donna Reed was my Aunt by marriage...she used to have Thanksgiving dinner in our house when I was little.
I have strong Scandinavian roots but my mother's family were all from England.  I also had an Irish Grandmother...but that was kept quiet!
I am related to Warren Buffet but he doesn't know that I call him Uncle Warren.
My husband gave me coveralls and rubber boots for my birthday one year.  I still love him
My family rocks!
