Shorthorn Bulls to Use on Angus Heifers?

Great looking bull, what are his BW's?

    Suggestions to improve heifer's appearance

No harm in reinforcing the low BW trait, go outcross on the calf, if it is a heifer and you get within breed hybrid vigour! If it's a bull worth looking at you have inbred CE genetics. It's a win-win situation!

    Hey

Great looking bull, my type! Love the muscle length evident from the pin bones to the hock, both in the sale catalogue and the pasture pictures. Shows it wasn't "posed"! Good luck with him clicking with your excellent cows, the progeny should be winners!

I think I've said it before, but that cow is a snorter!

    Hydroponic fodder system

When it comes to efficient, water saving agriculture, you need to look to the Israelis.I believe they have some of the most efficient agricultural production in the world. In a nutshell, if they market this type of technology then it will work! If not, research it very carefully! From my own...

A pretty much all red Shorthorn bull that sired class winners

On Monday I will be inseminating three head to a full Irish Tournant Sir James ET son imported about ten years ago. Had a great hindquarter! Still have 63 doses in the tank and want to see what he does. First batch of calves back then were mediocre and we were wanting maximum growth so they went...

A pretty much all red Shorthorn bull that sired class winners

We used him fairly heavily and to good effect! That white flank was quite hereditary! Can't recall a red calf, they all seemed to have white on them. Google 'Duncraggan Tarantino', a bull we bred, used, and collected for further use. If I remember correctly he was a finalist in the region for...

Blue roan or white shorthorn calving ease?

I'm not a fan of white bulls but Saskvalley Banjo 268B from Bowmans looks to be a snorter! Calving ease looks to be right up there as well. That width, smooth shoulder and wedge shape are huge selling points in my opinion, should give tremendous females!

    double muscling

Exactly! Test, test and test again, that is the only solution. When you read this you want to go native!

Using an 18 month old bull

Down here, nobody sells 2yr-old bulls unless they are going to stud breeders in 'soft' conditions. We use our 18-month and 2yr-old bulls and sell them as 3yr-olds. Been on the receiving end of criticism about 2yr-old bulls that "fall apart" after being put out to breeding and it is not great for...

    Pa Do Suds

While I was drifting, looking for direction to take my herd, I loved the look of this bull. My goals were hindquarter muscling and bone improvement, two traits he seemed to carry lots of, while Shorthorns, at the time, seemed to be lacking! After 16 years of breeding Shorthorns, fortunately...

    Bulls Heads

Like the hindquarter shape and bulging loin on the 6E bull. Brilliant! Both are excellent, deep bulls, well done! Photographs are amazingly even, good photographer and preparation.
