Personally, I see not much wrong with the picture of the bull himself. I think to me, it shows the bull better than the pictures you took at home. There is not much wrong with the pictures you took, I just think the Browarny picture shows his muscling and thickness better. If the Browarny picture was cleaned up, I think it would be fine.

Another thing to remember is that you can go onto the Browarny website and view all the pictures at the show. I am sure there were many more taken on the dirty carpet. This carpet is not Browarny's problem, it is the National Western's concern. It is the NWSS that sets up the picture venues that Browarny uses. Knowing Alan Browarny quite well, I am sure that he was not real happy if he saw this messy carpet. Even if he did complain about it, if the NWSS did not replace it, he would have to take the pictures on it. I was Beef Chariman at Canadian Western Agribition for several years and if something was wrong, I always heard about it from Browarny's. I am sure it would be the same at Denver.

I don't think there is much wrong with the angle of the picture. The backdrop can be corrected and the carpet should be able to be cleaned up some with a little Photoshopping.
Over the years, I have had hundreds of pictures taken by Browarny at shows. I always get all the cattle pictured, and I only purchase the ones I like. You do not have to purchase them just because they have been pictured at the show. Go to their website, look through the pictures they took of your cattle and select what you like. If you don't like any of them.... don't buy them. There have been some years where I only like 2 or 3 pictures out of 10 or 12 taken. If I don't think they are a good representation of the animal, I don't buy them. A poor picture is often worse than no picture at all.

I agree with your concerns, but you can view the photo's at the show, why didn't you have another one taken that day?

Justintime, that is a big plus when it comes to photos.  I also show dogs and when a photographer at a dog show takes your picture you pay for it whether you like it or not with a lot of them.  At least with most livestock photographers you have the choice!!

Unfortunately the pictures aren't available immediately after they are taken. The livestock is taken back to the stalls and broken down and washed. True you definitely don't have to buy them if you aren't satisfied but then you are left without anything.
There have been a couple of extremely talented and wonderful people on this site who have taken the time to photoshop our bull's picture and send me a cleaner version. Joshua's working on a copy of it now. I'll post the results but it's looking pretty good now!!!!!!

THERE ARE NO IFS, ANDS, ORS, OR BUTS ABOUT IT.  It is the photographers job and his job only to present as good as pic as he can with the livestock produced.  HIS job to center animal, HIS job to make sure area stays clean, HIS job to coach the individual on the right stance of the animal.  National Western needs to hire someone with these qualities.  The photographer is not going the extra mile by doing this.  It is HIS job.  Poor job, no more of him next year.  And the job he did was poor.  I'd be more than ticked.

I have to agree the photographer deffinitly didnt do the best of job. And the blame should probably go to him. yet next time you now know what a mess this can be so you are also better prepared for it to. JMHO

We've had some terrible pictures taken at the Ohio State Fair. I like the ones that you can see on their computer before ordering. Linde comes to my mind.

I want to thank two steer planet members who took the time to clean up the photo of our bull and send it to me. BIG thanks to Joshua Ramsey, it turned out beautiful and we are very pleased with the results. Thanks also to Lance Carter who also took time to send me a better copy.
Here's the final version.................by the way, haven't heard anything back from the photographer.

Thanks I think so too. I just got a phone call from someone who works for Browarny. We discussed the issues and it was stated that they are not responsible for the staging area that it's NWSS's responsibility. I said it was unfortunate because it was a direct reflection of the quality of their pictures. Also suggested that maybe next year if they contract again to make better arrangements. Also discussed photographer's angles and thought it might be something they would want to go over before the shoots. In their defense the gentleman I spoke to was very nice and accommodating. He will be e-mailing me a cleaner version of the picture we paid for.

Received the cleaned up copies from Browarny. He even went back to the picture of our heifer and fixed that one up for us too. Kudos, much thanks to all!!!!

Maybe Browarny's could take the time to put a little photoshop magic on them before we have to shell out $29.95 each!

for such a bunch of "christians", i am sure disappointed in the general trend of this thread.

i see little difference between this thread and sharia law.
