I agree with mainegirl. For my show animals, I use Safeguard. It's not cheap but it's worth it to not have flaking skin. When they have flies, I use a gentle fly sprays like Show Master Repel and Bronco.

In my experience, the nicer calves take just as long as the wilder calves to halter break. I like to work with them at least 3 months before I take them anywhere. Good luck with her though- who knows, she might be really easy to break.  (thumbsup)

It's genetic and environmental. Cattle can be DNA tested for docility but it also depends on the way they were raised (if a baby calf sees people all the time, it will be calmer around people as an adult).
