The only following I can do to you Okotocs-- is you only post pedigrees, mostly of animals that the concensus has never heard of.  You post alot- but rarely respond to questions asked upon you-- and never respond to someone else posting pedigrees that might Triumph yours.

The reason "most of the consensus hasn't heard of these bulls" probably has a heck of a lot to do with the fact that everyone is focused on using the same bloodlines; those that are proving successful in the showring, in the States. Nothing wrong with that, it obviously works for them.

BS, if you were to take yourself north and visit some Canadian herds, you would find a ****e load of different genetics. They may have common ancestors - that's the norm for most any breed these days - but have a look at the way these genetics have been mixed to achieve different results for different programs.

The same goes for Australia. Being separated by the pond has meant we've developed our own programs and there is a lot of diversity between herds. As always, it's personal preference what direction someone takes their progam and boy do we have some differences in opinions!

In fact, you really should go on a tour. You might learn something new. I always do.

Jody I have some really interestingly bred horses that have what I consider pedigrees but I have not posted them on steer planet as most people don't give a flying banana about said Thoroughbred  and Sport horses.  I think your post about the sheep pedigrees lands in the same category of my horses irrelevant when discussing cattle pedigrees.   Perhaps your trying to bring awareness but you always do it in an aggressive and at most times offensive way

Jamie: I thought it was a discussion about pedigrees and linebreeding... not necessarily beef cattle linebreeding and pedigrees.

Well as being you started this whole thread , you would think you could remember that it WAS started as a thread about cattle pedigrees & cattle linebreeding. You never mentioned in your 1st post anything about linebreeding in general.

wrong thread doc.. wrong post altogether.

TDU-- I get out quite a bit----- considering the poor college recent grad I and the wife are: the fact our parent's don't have deep pockets (or pockets at all), and the fact that I have plenty of chores and critters to take care of:::  Really limits my spending money- and time away from home... Kinda like growing up when the cows needed milked 2x a day...  some things are more important

Could trolling be dominant trait or is it recessive?

probably multigenic as it takes years of linebreeding, crossbreeding, outcrossing, incrossing to perfect.

I think it is a strongly inherited trait. I would not doubt that if you checked, both their grandfathers had roosters that had the same common parent showing up in the 5th generation back in their pedigrees.

That might indicate  inbreeding, I mean linebreeding...........
