Thanks aj... I appreciate the offer. Seriously. I am trying to finish our sale catalog tonite so if you can spare a few moments, I would appreciate you proofing it. That is if it doesn't interfere with what may be on Oprah!  BTW, what is with the corn harvest being so early this year? When I delivered bulls in mid May to SW Iowa, we were told that corn planting was way behind. One of the guys I dropped a bull off at, said he was going to plant corn for 3 more days then quit. I talked with him last night and he said his corn was almost a month early this year, and that they had already harvested quite a pile of acres. Last year in mid October, I travelled through this same country and I did not see an acre cut on the entire trip. Can Obama claim some of this ?

Hope your corn harvest goes great...and I mean that!

Jesus......cow farmer must be related to jit also. When jamie bred the bull......was the bull 17 or she was 17? If the bull calved after being bred(I assume it was a A.I.(shudder) it fairly amazing that he conceived. I heard the feedlot cowboys the other day wondering about the arab breed. Big stout dudes.....good cow sense. What else....I bred 23 head to jpj this summer. Bout 7 to captain obvious. Used my own herd bull Sodhouse Little Big Man as cleanup. Eighty sum birth weight. Should have 10 bulls in the yards this year. How many cousins does jit have up here? What is the web site for the arabrabien horse deal?

aj... I have lots and lots of cousins.... and none that are married to each other, and none that I know of, that play a banjo.Actually since my grandparents settled here in 1903, at the last count I heard there was over 350 descendants.Probably way more by now.  I don't even know them all any more. Who knows maybe we are even related! If I remember correctly, my grandfather traded roosters with someone in Kansas. Could that make us related?

When reading this thread and trying to keep up, I find myself needing to say that I hope our friends & neighbors to the north of us realize that we are not all like AJ, ( sorry AJ), and wanting to pick a fight with anyone. Please excuse the rude behavior of one of us. Again, sorry AJ, but your constant belittling and rudeness is way over the top. I for one truly appreciate the knowledge and different perspective that we get from our Canadian friends. Brent

lol..........JIT, I'm starting to think aj may be more likely to be related to some of those chickens............seems to do a lot of crowing and I'm wondering if the volume of  grey matter is not similar to a chicken. Thanks CAB. I didn't mean to generalize my comment as I have many friends in the U.S. and know there are alot of terrific cattle men and women amongst you.

Well I'm hoping those bulls do what you need on birth weights, don't see why they won't work really well. Hope you get the corn off without a hitch, no one can do anything up here for all the rain.
They said with climate change we would become like a desert but if there is such a thing it seems to be the reverse.

I think he is gone now.
Semen is for sale on the Canadian Shorthorn Genetics Mall site  www.shorthorns.ca

I also have a son from him born March 27/10 from the Slew heifer I bought from Muri's.
A good calf in at 86lbs.

Oh that is sad that he is likely wandering the big green pasture :( I am glad he still has semen available  though a good heifer bull is timeless. :)

They are selling 2 packages of 5 units of Waukaru Patent at the Shadybrook Sale on Sept. 26, I wonder what that will bring? Lots of bred females carry his service.

I'm sure that Coyote will chime in here but I do believe that I saw Buster 2nd on pasture at his place in July and he looked excellent.

I know you are crossing him with Red Angus for Durham Reds but do you also breed him for pure shorthorns. Do you have calves on the ground yet?

I have not had a purebred calf out of 329 yet. sue on here has, so she could talk better about that. My only shorthorn cow is bred to a son of hers this year but she will be bred to him next year. My hope is he will be one of the last bulls I bring in from outside sources. His calves here have met my hopes so far and grow good. I plan on building my herd around this bull. His mama is a preety sweet cow from all I can gather. She has a full sib to 329 on her right now.
